The Two Hares – GlossopCharming traditional old pub. Very welcoming staff who couldn't have been more accommodating. Lovely Sunday lunch before heading home after our stay in the Peak District.
The Old Gate Inn – MatlockWe went for dinner while on holiday in Buxton. We ate downstairs in the bar as we had our dog with us, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. Beautiful ingredients, all cooked to perfection. The steak was particularly good. The best meal I've had in a long time. If we're in Buxton again, we will be going back!
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonWe reserved a table for breakfast, thinking it would be really busy - it wasn’t. There appeared to be a new girl serving at the till, which caused a queue. She got the order wrong, which we thought was rectified, to find when we sat down that she’d put a small breakfast through, as opposed to large. My partner couldn’t be bothered to go back. It came out on a tea plate - literally! It looked like it was for a child - but even for a child I’d expect it to be served on a decent sized plate. The toast was placed on top, with no side plate. The plate for my egg and mushroom roll was larger! My partner was not at all impressed, chuntering away as he ate! He stated the tea was excellent. I had a fried egg and mushroom roll, which was large and delicious. The salt pot was empty, so we pinched one from an empty table. I had the opportunity to state what had happened and before long a lady apologised then brought us brownies as an apology, which was well accepted and great customer service. I’m a firm believer that if you’re a new member of staff and in training that you tell members of the public, so that they can have more patience and understanding. The girl was getting other orders wrong and didn’t appear to be getting any help. Maybe if someone could have supervised her, until she was up to speed? We returned later, for coffee, which was excellent. However we weren’t given tea spoons and had to go back inside for sugar, which we didn’t realise. I know it seems like I’m whinging, but this is feedback as opposed to criticism. The ambience and setting was beautiful and we’d definitely return, without hesitation.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe had a very enjoyable evening. The food was great, steak cooked to perfection. It was a large serving and we were able to take some home too. The Duo singing played well known songs in their own style and we stayed all night.
