Sunday Lunch, we hadn’t been for a while and to be fair was quite disappointed ☹️ gluten free meal used to have Yorkshire pudding but not anymore! Optional choice of cabarta roll with meat & Roast Potatoes & gravy but very dry, no stuffing with the Pork or Turkey & Roast Potatoes cooked lovely but no taste! Stuffing in a hard square & not very nice, definitely needs some tweaking!

Food was only ok, my partners plate had a massive chip in it he didn’t want to complain, if it had been my plate i would have sent my meal back. Didn’t understand the whole surcharge thing the lad who served us said its because the fish is huge when in fact it wasn’t it was an average sized fish. Rip off charging £3 extra just for chips. Table behind us sent their meal back twice. Very dark in the pub & very dated could do with a lick of paint. Very much doubt we will visit again.

Rather disappointed. I had this place recommended to me but I’m not sure I’ll be back. I had fish and chips, the fish was tasty but the batter was thick and soggy underneath the fish, it hadn’t been properly cooked. It was placed on top of the chips, which led to them being covered in grease and bits of uncooked batter. My husband’s was cooked nicely so maybe I was just unlucky? On the plus side, my paté starter was delicious, as was the panna cotta.

We went for the 3 courses for £10 menu. But decided to have the fish and chips each for a further supplement of £5 each and it was worth every penny. Large fish lovely batter.the chips large thick and tasty so that only worked out as £15 each for three courses. Beautiful went home stuffed. Would recommend this no hesitation. We will be regulars looking forward to our next treat. Nice friendly service as well

We had a lovely lunch at Witton Castle. Beautiful views over looking the grounds, a roaring fire and excellent service.

Very disappointing. We booked a table for 2 people at noon on a Thursday. If it hadn’t been for an office lunch party of about 12 we would’ve been entirely alone. We were met by a stroppy member of staff (Manager?) followed by a friendly waitress. We both ordered the Farmhouse Club. It was virtually impossible to eat, made up of three x half-inch-thick slices of toasted sourdough, overdone bacon (chicken was fine) - and the hand cut chips! As thick and solid as two fingers (the seasoned fries were fine). Despite this we enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding followed by a liqueur coffee. We asked for some recompense for the disappointing Club so we didn’t get charged for the dessert.

My birthday choice of venue. Took three friends who needed to experience this lovely pub. Sunday 31st May. Arrived at noon, ordered main courses and waited and waited. Eventually I asked a member of staff how much longer. He apologised and said there was a table of 15 that came in just before us, hence the delay. The dinners were lovely, although not piping hot but I didn't make an issue as I was so hungry. I loved the ambience created with the pianist. My previous visit was a Monday teatime and the service was much quicker and a fantastic plate of Sunday dinner. I even took a few photos to show friends.

Waited over and hour to be served, the prawn cocktail sauce was very watery, Not a good starter at all. Main meal was all vegetables with very little taste, very bland, ordered the pork and half was beef, been many times but this was a total disappointment this time.

The quality of the food, presentation and service were second to none. I had the sirloin steak and it was the best steak I have had in many years perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth.
