Excellent food and drink as always.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterOur favourite place to eat in Exeter. Food is fresh and delicious and the staff, friendly and fun. PS Atmosphere normally buzzing but unusually it was quiet in Exeter on this night - hence my 4/5 ( normally definitely 5/5)
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThree of us decided to visit the The Hour Glass Inn for lunch last Saturday and aren't we pleased we did. All three of us had an amazingly good meal, all three of us had the Scampi for starters and the lamb for mains and yes the chef has to be commended for such wonderful dishes. Both the barman and waitress were welcoming, cheerful and attentive. Keep up the good work, this is now our No.1 place to eat in Exeter.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAmazing staff, food & venue! Great vibes, relaxed atmosphere & tasty wholesome food with friendly & attentive staff! Would definitely return & recommend
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterOur son was visiting from London so took him for a birthday meal... The food was delicious as usual as we've been quite a few times and the staff are very friendly.. Can definitely recommend.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterHad mid-week dinner with Exeter-based family. Been before and this time was just as good. Enjoyed the ‘scampi’ and mezze to share with plaice, pork and steak dishes. All very tasty and satisfying. Plenty of great ale on offer and Sauvignon was also enjoyed. Bill reasonable, service attentive and great location. Left happy.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterFabulous food, amazing service. Would definitely recommend and will be returning

The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAfter a day out with visiting friends discovering the history of my adopted city we finished up with a lovely meal at the Hourglass at the end of our busy day. The staff were friendly and helpful and while the service was a wee bit slow it didn’t detract from our evening. We put that down to the fact that the ‘Quiz Night’ was going full pelt upstairs and when we left we could see the bar area was packed with the quizzers having a good evening. This must be one of Exeter’s hidden gems and I will return. Shhhhh: don’t tell anyone else!!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWhat a lovely find! We’d walked past The Hourglass sometime back & decided to revisit for lunch at some point in the future. Our return took place last Saturday (19.7.25.) We will definitely be back to this lovely little hidden gem!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterFantastic Sunday lunch very much enjoyed by us both! Thank you! We'll be back.
The Hour Glass Inn – Exeterfood very tasty although would have been improved if we had a veg dish rather it being oiled on the plate....
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThe greeting by the lady at the bar (sorry didn’t get the name) said it all, she was friendly & spent time talking through the wines , telling as little bit about the pub. She also ensured we had a good table in the restaurant as we were celebrating our anniversary. Atmosphere was fun/friendly. Food was delicious. We will definitely be back !!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThis was a second visit in less than a month. Food quality and service are second to none, in a real pub with as much attention paid to the quality of the beer as there is to the food and wine. My only disappointment is that I'm restricted to visits for lunch as public transport from my location does not exist in the evenings. I recommend the Cornish Sole (beautifully cooked and presented) accompanied by a pint of Lighterman bitter! The service was excellent and being lunch there was time for friendly banter with the landlord/barman which added greatly to the atmosphere and enjoyment of our day
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWe had a wonderful dinner on Monday evening with both delicious food and excellent service making for a really great evening. Thank you to all.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWhile a lovely looking pub from the outside that would make you want to go in and have a drink it was still a big surprise as to just how good the food was. Excellent service from friendly staff, good wine list, varied menu ( there will be something for everyone) it’s just nice food done well. Heartily recommended.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterSunday Menu: 2 courses, £31; 3 courses, £39.50.
