Took my wife and youngest (plus dog) to the Hourglass for lunch end of November. Food was amazing, great choice on the menu, well presented, timely and delicious. Service and bar staff were supper friendly (but not intrusive) and kept the service and atmosphere flowing perfectly. We'll be back!

A friend of mine told me that the food here is exceptional so I thought a good place to take my husband for his 71st birthday on Friday night. We were not disappointed. A nice table next to the log burner for 7pm. The food was beautiful. We had the venison and the pork belly with extra green vegetables and smoked/honey sprouts. All was delicious. A lovely atmosphere downstairs in the restaurant, every table was full. I am definitely going back to try one of the steaks next time, they looked awesome too. The attention to detail, the friendly staff and the exceptional food made for a great evening, thanks very much, we will definitely be back. Not the cheapest of places to eat but like they say 'you only get what you pay for' and as a special treat it was amazing.

We ate at the Hour Glass the other night. Not my first time going there. Absolutely amazing food as ever and easily THE best food I've eaten out in Exeter in ages. Highly recommend. I'm vegan and the options were delicious and creative.

Authentic and charming. For me, this is Exeters jewel in the crown of real pubs with top quality traditional homemade food and great beer all set in a pub that has a kind of ‘Irish charm’ that hasn’t changed for years.

We had Sunday lunch at this pub and have to say that it was truly delicious. Unusually the gravy wasn’t just out of a packet but was real and very tasty. We had a lovely mixture of vegetables and the roast meats, pork and chicken in our case, were very tasty and tender. We recommend it highly.

We have been going to the hour glass for years , wonderful pub with a great atmosphere , the food and the staff are great especially Giles he really does make you really welcome. Cheers John

We are so glad that you came recommended from another restaurant that couldn’t fit us in for a Sunday lunch! Myself, husband and son all had your roast dinner and it was delicious from the sweet carrots, the epic cauliflower cheese to the juicy meat that fell apart in your mouth. Great atmosphere, great staff and fab food. Thank you!

Fantastic meal, as always, at the Hour Glass. We couldn't have felt more welcome, the service was super-attentive, and the food was simply wonderful. This pub has such a great atmosphere, the staff are brilliant, and the food never disappoints. Unreservedly recommend.

God food and lovely staff. However the acoustics in the dining area are not good and if there is a large party at another table it is incredibly hard to have a conversation over your food. I don’t have hearing problems! The acoustics are better in the pub area. Sadly I probably won’t eat here again because of it, but I will continue to eat in the pub.

Form me the Hourglass is the place to eat in Exeter, amazingly well preserved pub tucked away about the key with a really friendly and atmosphere pub. The food rivals other fine dunning, with a great choice of beers, wines and spirits. Well worth going and having a lunch. Thanks Giles.

The Hour Glass is one of my favourite pubs in Exeter. The food, service and ambience are excellent. It never let's you down.

Most perfect evening. Food was delicious, staff when above and beyond, room was stunning. Couldn’t have be happier. 100% recommend. Made my daughters 21st an evening to always remember.

We had a large group booked in for dinner, and everyone had a great time. The booking process was very easy and the staff very accommodating to a variety of dietary requirements and allergies, happy to offer alternatives. The food was tasty and portions were good. Wait staff were lovely and helpful. My only question was that I realised we weren’t offered desert which I think some of the party may have wanted. Lovely atmosphere and would definitely recommend.

A great evening at The Hourglass last night… delicious food and good service we all enjoyed the varied menu with great choices for everyone! With a great atmosphere too we will definitely be back again soon ! Thank you all

Introduced my friends to the Hour Glass, and it did not disappoint. Fantastic food and service from start to finish. I loved how seasonal and locally sourced the menu was. The staff are incredibly welcoming and responsive. The Hour Glass is a place I can always rely on to be excellent in every aspect every time I visit.
