The Hour Glass Inn – Exeter5 star!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAnother trip to my favourite place to eat in Exeter. This time with 10 work mates for dinner. Service was friendly and professional. The food was excellent and truly faultless. Can’t praise enough.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterLove this quirky pub- great people & food. Visit whenever in Exeter- never fails to disappoint; highly recommend.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterHello Hour Glass team We had a great experience starting with the really friendly and super competent young man serving at bar on arrival and with meal in dining room where service was good- only minor snag being potatoes served with bit of a delay. Food was excellent, we were all satisfied. Sole was delicious and big portion (sometimes sole can be disappointing- thin, not enough) sauce lovely and side of buttered greens very good. Rump steak folks were happy as were sons with ox cheek pie. We shared x3 mussels ad starter which was nice but not banging- not usual Exe mussel plumpness and sauce I found too creamy … blackberry sorbet incredible flavour the lads were in heaven with chocolate pud. Exeter brewery beers excellent my favourite is Avocet, delicious and good with food. Very enjoyable evening in relaxed dining room, great choice for a celebration with friends. Thank you will be back.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThe Hour Glass is a hidden gem in Exeter. The food is fabulous, with a fresh, seasonal menu that’s beautifully presented. The atmosphere is wonderful, created by exceptional people—including a Manager whose genuine care shines through in everything he does. A truly special place.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterA little gem, just a 10 minutes walk from Exeter City Centre. Really authentic pub with amazing history that has the atmosphere you’d expect of a proper pub. The difference is that this pub also serves amazing food and great staff who really make you feel welcome. It definitely our go to place in Exeter.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAbsolutely heavenly food - last night I had the sole, the sauce it came with was sensational. My husband had the burger and said it was the best burger he's ever eaten in his life - he's had a few over the decades! I didn't have enough room for the chocolate delice but I've had that before and it is gorgeous. This time I had the salted caramel and the peanut butter ice cream - the latter was especially good and I'm definitely going to be ordering that again and again! All that in a super atmosphere with excellent staff, and dog friendly too, what's not to love about this place, we are so lucky to have this as our local as it's definitely the best place to go in Exeter (to eat or even just to have a drink).
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterA hidden gem! Thoughtful food well prepared. Excellent service the right side of attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterI’ve been a regular at the hour glass for years, it’s easily the best pub in Exeter, and although I’ve only eaten here on two occasions, Fridays special was a truly excellent. A simple fish supper is such a treat when the batter is fried at high temperature- crisp, clean, light, and dry, the chips were triple cooked and accompanied with homemade tartare sauce, and mushy peas presented in copper pots. The other factor, so often overlooked, is the attention to detail the staff paid, in facilitating speedy delivery, and removal, with grace, and precision. Thank you
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWe had a brilliant night, the food and the service was excellent. Thank you hour glass xxx
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWe had heard good reports about the hour glass and decided to try it for ourselves. Why have we not tried this restaurant before! The food was exceptional. The sauce that was with my Cornish Sole was superb and the fish itself was cooked to perfection. Quite possibly the best fish dish I’ve ever had. We ate in the back bar which I found a bit dark. This is perhaps its only fault. The staff were natural and easy going, neither too attentive or dismissive. It won’t be the last time we use this restaurant Thank you Hour Glass.

The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAbsolutely sublime! The kitchen never fails to deliver. And the service is friendly and welcoming.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterExcellent food and drink as always.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterOur favourite place to eat in Exeter. Food is fresh and delicious and the staff, friendly and fun. PS Atmosphere normally buzzing but unusually it was quiet in Exeter on this night - hence my 4/5 ( normally definitely 5/5)
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThree of us decided to visit the The Hour Glass Inn for lunch last Saturday and aren't we pleased we did. All three of us had an amazingly good meal, all three of us had the Scampi for starters and the lamb for mains and yes the chef has to be commended for such wonderful dishes. Both the barman and waitress were welcoming, cheerful and attentive. Keep up the good work, this is now our No.1 place to eat in Exeter.
