We have had a few excellent meals at the refurbished Sparling and would be delighted to return anytime. The menu has a good choice and the food is delicious , plentiful and of a very high standard.....a true modern Gastro Pub. Front of House Neal is always most welcoming & attentive, always checking to make sure everything is to your liking. In addition he keeps a good choice of Hand - pulled Real Ales ....always delicious.....of which he is rightly proud. The whole experience is reasonably priced and we would (and do!) recommend this great Gastro Pub to anyone who enjoys and appreciates their food & drink. (This must be worth a free pint next time, Neal??)

Was I just unlucky? - I read the reviews which all appeared to be good, so ordered a takeaway on Sunday 4th March 2012 at 7.30, was told it would not be ready until 8.30 (and hours wait) - but decided to go ahead and asked for it to be delivered. It arrived at 8.45 and was just 'lukewarm' - We started with salt and chilli ribs which were very bland and dry plus the pork toast was soggy cold and tasted of very little. For the main course we ordered sweet and sour chicken (not brilliant) Red Thai chicken curry which was excellent, but the duck with garlic and pepper was very disappointing - two lots of rice and one of noodles, the bill came to £27.25 (including delivery of £1.50) which i thought was expensive for what we got - all in all not a good experience

Had a really nice meal here tonight. However all things considered I/we will not be going back again! After sitting down in the Restaurant at 21:15hrs, It took a long time (over an hour) to serve the pre course and then another half hour to serve the starters. Really poor service with no interaction from the staff/Manager. After discussing my concerns with the restaurant manager, to which he was ambivalent about our comments, I/we feel that the food just wasn't worth waiting for after the very poor service that we received tonight. It put a disappointing end to the evening as I was celebrating my 40th Birthday with friends.

my wife and i have just had our wedding reception at the Venue, 120 hungry guests arrived and were superbly looked after by Thomas, and his staff the mediterranean style buffet was mouthwatering, with piri piri chicken home made lasagna, pizzola loaded potato skins numerous salads and the best chunky chips in the world all the guests went back at least once more and still the food kept coming! all served to us by professional attentive staff, and to add to that the bar was fully stocked and the prices easily one of the cheapest places in Blackpool with bitter at £2.50, and lager at £2.80, plus house doubles and premium drinks if you want a function of any kind THIS IS THE PLACE STOP LOOKING!!!

This was our first trip to the ship. It was excellent! The menu was great and the children's menu had much to offer. It had a lovely feel to the place and the conservatory is a great place to dine!! Will certainly be returning to this establishment !!!

Had our first meal at this great place.. Beautiful, although have to say felt rushed and was asked to move after finishing our meals. Wanted to stay and drink more wine but seating could not allow us... Shame..

we have been already at this restaurant about a year ago and already at the time was not much.But being invited could not say no, simply not a good restaurant the first Italian restaurant where even the pizza is awful.then i wonder why an Italian restaurant does not have Italian staff ??????

Just back from another short stay at St Anne's and guess where we ate again? Wouldn't think of going anywhere else but The Ship Inn. This is my second review and as before all our expectations were fully met both with the food and the staff. Only one complaint! Having lost 6 stones it is hard keeping the weight off and the fabulous choice has me drooling, I simply have a lovely meal, enjoy the whole experience and go back to my restricted eating when I get back home. Menu is fantastic and for a vegetarian there are also lots of choices. Hope to be back again late August. Looking forward to the Grilled Goats Cheese starter followed by Vegetarian Moussaka already! Highly recommend to everyone - you will not be disappointed!

Ten of us booked a meal at San Marcos over a month ago. We arrived half an hour before the due time and were told that our table would be ready shortly, We had a drink in the waiting area but when our booking time arrived, the table was still not ready. We complained and were told that the previous occupants had not finished and were taking more than the two hours allocated for eating. Eventually we were shown to our table 55 minutes after our booking time. Our order had been taken while we waited so food appeared almost immediately. It was very good and were it not for the delayed service I would be be recommending this restaurant. We asked the people who had vacated our table what time they had sat down and they admitted it was only an hour and a quarter before our booking time. Hence the manager's excuse was not valid. There was also another large group who had a booking time before ours who sat down at the same time as ours,

we have been eating here for the last 6 years everytime we come to Blackpool about 3 times a year and we have never had a bad steak. the service is always excellent and very friendly.would recommend to any and everyone. good value for money xxx
