Ann

The young girl who works there is such a pleasure to be around she takes her time to make sure you are happy and satisfied, unlike I have to say the rather large man who was forever barking at the girl unusually so as from what we observed she was the only one in the place who smiled or actually worked! Food was v.good. Execellent service by that young lady a sure asset to the business.

Now this is not a recommendation,we ate at the place and it was terrible. What we couldn't understand is that people had recommended it and we couldn't understand why. The starter that we had was not fully warmed. The main course tasted like it was from Tesco and the restaurant seemed to be run by kids. We saw no sign of any obvious Italian staff in the place. On the plus side it must be said that the place was clean and although the staff were youngsters they were helpful polite and attentive. There were other people dining in the place (about 2 tables in all) and we wondered if these people dined there regularly. We on the other hand will not be returning as we wouldn't like to take a chance it might ruin our night. The meal on this occasion certainly did.

Called in for a Meal on Sunday 29th May 2011 and we both decided to try the £8.95 offer, the service was good and the food was both delicious and plentiful. We didn't have any Alcohol but ordered 2 teas. Tea consisted of 2 small cups at £1.30 per cup. Would have been nice to have had a teapot. Our only gripe was that we had plenty of food left over and normally a restaurant are happy to let you take it home with you. We asked to take it home, but we were refused!! being told "its not the restaurants policy to take food away". Such a shame as we would have gone there again and we even offered to pay for a doggy-bag. Needless to say no tip offered.

HAVE JUST ARRIVED HOME FROM THE OLIVE, WE DINE THERE EVERY MONDAY. ALWAYS EXCELLENT FOOD BUT THE FOOD TODAY WAS ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT. GOOD FOOD, FRIENDLY STAFF AND VALUE FOR MONEY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Excellent food I simply love Italian food the Thursday night 3 courses for £10.95 is excellent value and choice as long as you do not mind being totalling ignored after 7,25pm and asked to leave immediately even though we were not told on booking or arriving that if you ate from this menu you had to leave without coffee before 7.30pm.This totally spoilt the night for me.

I have now visited the red lion on two occasions, and both have been very enjoyable evenings. The most recent visit was a Spanish theme night. The tapas was delicious, and my wife and i both had an enjoyable pork fillet for main. Good atmosphere, good service, all in all a pleasurable experience.

Unfortunately not recommended One vegetable which I queried, the waiter came across as rude. The manager actually was very nice and managed the query well. The tables are crowded, which meant it was very noisy, the music system was more like a noise system, better not have it There was an overcharge in the bill, which the waiter then corrected, but still got the sum wrong - I had to actually use a calculator to show him he was wrong. Sorry too many reasons to go back in there again

I had to send my main course back, the meat was inedible. The Manager dealt with the situation promptly, and the second attempt was fine. BUT, I am wheelchair bound and the toilets are upstairs. No disabled toilet. I had to use the loo in the Pub next door. The owners have spent an alleged £150,000 on refurbishment , but obviously did not see the need for a disabled loo. WE must be a minority.

OYSTER AND OTTER - FENISCOWLES We saw this place advertised in Lancashire Life so we decided to try it. The Ribble Valley and surrounding area has so many wonderful places to go and eat so we thought to try another, newly opened place. I have split the review into categories which I, as a diner, would have found useful before visiting. Website: http://www.oysterandotter.co.uk/ A classy website that shows of the stylish nature of the restaurant with enticing photographs of food. The Menu is available online. (5 out of 5) Booking: I called to book which was no problem to do but when we arrived it wasn't busy so we had a choice of table. (5 out of 5) Parking: The car park at Yu and You is very large and there were plenty of spaces available very close to the door. (5 out of 5) Building: the restaurant used to be a pub and we saw photographs of how it looked before. The new owners spent about £500k to do the place up and you can tell as everything is quality and very fashionable. I really like the decor and feel of the place. (5 out of 5) Staff: We were served by Andrew, who coincidentally my Mother in Law knew and he was a fantastic waiter for us. He made menu suggestions, told us all the specials, got us a jug of water and even talked us through the history of the building and owners. He really made us feel welcome. (9 out of 10) Food: The restaurant is actually a fish restaurant and the owners have a long history with fishing and the sea. The specials board changes constantly with fresh catch including Lobster and Seabass etc and the menu itself has a wide range of tasty things. We decided to have starters: I had Pork Crackling with Apple Sauce which was really good but no where near as good as the Squid my other half and her father had! It was fantastic! Her mother had a twice baked cheese soufflet which she says was fabulous too. For mains I had 'The Pie' with slow cooked beef and Lancaster Bomber Ale which was great but i wish i had be brave and gone with the lobster. My other half and her mother had the slow cooked lamb which was amazing and her Dad had a HUGE chicken and chips which he couldn't finish! We then decided to have pudding and the chocolate pot was incredible too! Absolutely gorgeous but i will deffo have fish next time! (9 out of 10) Atmosphere: Relaxed but modern atmosphere with friendly staff and good chatter. (4.5 out of 5) Price: £25 per person Prices in line with those at the restaurants in the area which are reasonable, especially for the excellence in cooking and generous portions! (4 out of 5) Summary: We have found a new favourite in the Oyster & Otter, the food, service and experience are all well worth another visit - and we will be there once again on Bank Holiday Monday! Total Score: 46.5 out of 50 http://northernreview.blogspot.com/

Oyster & Otter Fish & Chip Takeaway – Blackburn

Tried many Indian restaurants in the area and the Amonbagh consistently produces top quality dishes across their range. One of the few places I will go to for a takeaway.

I am usually loathe to leave reviews of a place, especially if its not been a pleasant experience - I usually vote with my wallet and not return. However, I feel I should leave my comments. This place is vastly overpriced, has really sub standard service and the food produce isn't really that fresh, and certainly not what you would expect from an above the rest establishment, or one that pertains to be. The 'artisan' feel and approach is simply not transferred into the food served on the plate. It was cold, unappetising and I've actually had better quality in a local Crown carvery pub at about a third of the cost. Staff just aren't attentive, you always feel as though you are causing trouble to ask for anything as they huff and puff away and look so bored and uninterested, its as though they don't actually want you sat there. I had to ask four times for my table to be cleaned and for cutlery to be set out. You almost need a second mortgage for the drinks - how the high prices can be justified is beyond me. The place also stank of revolting cow-pat in the restaurant, probably due to the mucky, half dead looking cows in the barn attached to the kitchens and cafe area. I saw kitchen staff going in and out of a side door into the kitchen area, trudging mud and cow muck inside. When I saw that, I knew I would never return to Bashall Barn to eat. All in all, despite its pretensions, a truly miserable experience.

We have dined here on three occasions, food is nothing short of excellent , a really nice personal touch our second visit was a few months after we first ate there, and as we ordered our meals and a bottle of wine Ann Marie said " that's the same as you ordered last time" obviously taking note of customers likes . Going there is like going to grannies old house , lots of character, several rooms and excellent food " Just like Grannie used to make " We recommend this lovely restaurant .

My husband and I haven't been to the Yarrow Bridge for quite a while so we thought we would go for a meal on Sunday 22nd May 2011. The food was excellent and the staff were really helpful and friendly, we enjoyed it so much we shall be taking our family this week for a Birthday celebration meal.

The service at Double Two was exemplary. The staff were attentive without being obvious. We ordered one main meal off the menu and asked for one that was not on the menu, which was produced and delivered to a very high standard. The food was specific and not generic and exceptionally tasty. The staff also offered an complimentary drink after the meal. I would highly recommend anyone to eat at Double Tree.
