Pendle Inn – BurnleyThis place offers a real pleasant change to the bland chain pubcos that dominate this country. In the heart of the ribble valley near clitheroe. It's serves top food from its chef patron and I loved the "middle earth" murals in the toilet. I only had a sandwich for lunch but it hit the spot!
Aspinall Arms – ClitheroeVisited pond on sunday had a great time, restaurant was fairly busy and service was very good, our fussy needs were easily met, the food delicious and fresh would definitely recommend, we joined a drink in the lounge area which was most welcome after a huge meal ! and i have suggested we all go for our Christmas do. So we are very excited to come back again. We are already regulars at duk and its lovely to see both doing well.
Duk-Pond – PrestonWent last night with my husband to celebrate my 40th birthday. Had heard brilliant things about this restaurant and Duk, it's sister restaurant, but been unable to get a table in the past. To be honest, though, was really unimpressed. One of the waitresses was very rude to the couple sat next to us while we were waiting to be seated at our table, which put me off immediately. There is a huge amount of choice in the menu, but we chose 12 dishes and didn't think very much of any of them - they weren't very hot when they came out, and most of the lettuce served with the salad garnishes was really past it's best and a bit slimy! I wouldn't have served it in that state to guests in my house! It was as though everything we were being served leftovers from the weekend, and maybe we would have had a better experience later on in the week. It was just ok - I wouldn't return, nor would I bother with Duk. A disappointing celebration.
Duk-Pond – PrestonWe were planning our wedding and contacted several places to make appointments to see them and discuss holding our wedding there. We knew where Ferraris was and that it was a beautiful location. We made an appointment to meet them and turned up on time. There was nobody on reception although there were 2 people setting the tables in the room next door and in full view of us. We waited for 10 minutes before one of them came over and asked what we wanted. When we explained that we had an appointment to see their wedding advisor we were told to sit down and wait. No offer was made of a drink or anything else. It was another 20 minutes before the owner turned up. She made no apology for being 30 minutes late and gave the impression that we were wasting her time. She briefly showed us the wedding reception room and then made it quite obvious that we had outstayed our welcome. No offer was made to show us the rest of the hotel. When we were leaving we noticed a leaflet by the front door promoting a wedding fayre 2 days later. Nobody mentioned this to us at all. It would have been an ideal opportunity to discuss it. When outside we walked round the gardens and found a big pile of sick by the front door that had not been cleaned up. The whole experience was extremely off putting. It is a shame as the hotel is in a lovely location. It is simply let down by the attitude of the owner and staff. We did not feel that they would care about us enough to make our wedding day special.
Ferrari’s Country House Hotel and Restaurant – LongridgeSince the refurbishment we have eaten here about 1/2 a dozen times and enjoyed every meal. The new outside terrace is lovely - very mediterranean. The new menu is excellent and very accommodating for every taste - we especially enjoy the local Bowens steak pudding. All the food is beautifully presented and reasonably priced - restaurant quality food at reasonable pub prices! The staff are very friendly and helpful and overall we would recommend The 'new' Travellers Rest to everyone!
The Travellers Rest – Chorleythe food here is fantastic !! its the fresh produce and the expert chef's they have that make it one of the best food houses, A bar full of cold beers and cask, massive choice of wines and the Sunday Carvery is the tops 2 courses £9.95 & 3 courses £10.95 and not a frozen item in sight. Mid week special, all pasta dishes only £4.95 and ice cold Buds £2.00 (mid week) all British meat and all fresh of the butcher. Sat & Sun Special soup & sandwich £4.95 cant beat it !! warm fires, good company and hot drinks its the place to be !!!
The Lock & Quay – ChorleyHIGHLY recommend Angels - we went for the first time last night and had a fabulous meal. The food is worthy a Michelin star as far as I'm concerned. And at £22 for a 3-course meal, including teas/coffees, it's very well priced too. Not keen on the decor in the bar area though... it's got all a bit too much crushed velvet, feathers and general bling going on for my liking, but don't let that put you off! The interiors in the dining room are a bit more subdued thankfully. We'll definitely go again and will recommend to anyone we know.
Angels – PrestonBest banquet I have had outside of Liverpool chinatown, there was four of us and you could have fed eight easily ,pleasant staff and would recommend it to anyone. We ate on friday 11 09 2009
Trungs Restaurant – CarnforthI will certainly be visiting this restaurant again. The food is delicious excellent choice in both food and wine, the decor is impeccable and the view stunning. Very friendly and efficient service cant wait to visit again soon!!!!
Kingfisher Restaurant – Lancasteri took my wife for a meal on her birthday and was very impressed with the whole package, we had a beautiful 2 course meal from the a'lcart menu. Would recommend this restaurant so much so we've a pub and have put up an advert on our notice board and will definitely be going back
Thyme and Plaice – ChorleyExcellent food and service nothing a trouble. Def worth a visit and owner always there and overseeing business.
The Viceroy – Leylandthe food seems to have gone down hill considerably over the last 12months or so. used to dine here on a regular basis as was always great food and service. on our last visit we both had set meal, i had broccoli and Stilton soup which was like puree baby food with no Stilton flavour at all, my partner had Stilton mushrooms which looked and tasted as if the mushrooms were deep fried then placed in a lack lustre white sauce again with no Stilton flavour. next we both opted for "the famous lamb" which was again a let down considering we always have it the lamb was extremely fatty and chewy and the gravy under seasoned and lacking in any depth!! will not be returning anytime soon
The Walton Arms – AccringtonExcellent vibrant little coffee shop tucked away down Bashful alley near the castle in the centre of Lancaster. Good selection of mains and snacks, prices were very reasonable. Although bustling, service was quick and polite. Mixed youngish crowd. Highly recommended.
The Old Bell Coffee House – LancasterI went there a few weeks ago on the recommendation by a friend. Went with my partner, and had a starter, main meal and a bottle of wine! The wine menu was extensive, with a great choice. The food was out of this world. I think Lancaster is quite limited in great places to eat, but QSF I think will become one of our regular haunts. It was small but cosy - that said, we went mid week, I would imagine it being too cosy at the weekend. The service was excellent, the food was a little slow at coming to the table, as someone has already stated, but then, food should be cooked with care and attention, not rushed. Can't wait to return!
Quite Simply French – Lancasterthe buffet is second to none - i can't believe they just keep coming with those delicious bhajis
Masala Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant and Takeaway – MorecambeMitton Hall is a terrific venue and the food does live up to the surroundings; yes, it's expensive, but stick with the tapas (take at least four plus a salad or something from the left-hand side of the menu!) and you will come away with change from £40. Would strongly recommend the Chicken Yaki Tori and Ouzi Yaki, but eat quickly; it never seems to stay warm for too long! Also worth trying is the belly pork and salt-and-pepper squid tapas. They will quite happily let you eat from the bar menu in the amazing main room - which holds many happy memories for me from the 'olde Stonehouse' days!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeWe visited on a friday night and there were five of us, we went for a set meal option as we couldn't decide what to have, £20 a head including fish (king Prawn dish) and it was fantastic, lots of choice and lots of it. Would highly recommend the food was fresh and delicious. service was good was quite busy.
