Clog and Billycock – BlackburnThe food was tasty, not too expensive and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Tottos – PrestonMy husband, 5 year old son and I had lunch here this Sunday. Absolutely stunning. Excellent friendly service, sublime food, lovely surroundings. The beef stew and dumplings my husband had was excellent and full of flavour. I had the ham hock with lancashire cheese mash and mustard sauce - I can honestly say each mouthful was better than the last. It was amazing!!! Our son had the cheese and tomato tart from the children's menu - he loved it. The children's menu is far better than your average pub. Treating children like small adults with good appetites and a taste for interesting food. Great value too!! The only disappointment was that we did not have time to stay for pudding - I was particularly looking forward to the warm frangipan - oh well maybe next time!! We'll most definitely be back.
The Continental – PrestonVisited the New Continental for Sunday lunch. It had been featured the night before in the LEP. We arrived about 1.40 to find the pub quite busy with a few remaining tables. The pubs new decor is very pleasing and modern. We got our drinks at the bar and found a table. There seemed to be only 3 people waiting on and two behind the bar. It took about 10 mins for someone to come to our table after I had been back to the bar to enquire if we placed orders there but was told someone would come to us. After some time a waiter took our order of the chicken in Garstang blue cheese sauce for my husband and I ordered the lamb cutlets on hotpot potatoes. 25 minutes later the waiter came over and apologised for the delay due to some catastrophe in the kitchen and said it wouldn't be long. Another 25 minutes later we finally got our meals and I cheekily asked for free sweets because of the 50 minute delay, and to be fair the waiter agreed. My husband declared his chicken, which came with mash, very good. However, my hotpot potatoes were decidedly on the tepid side and the lamb cutlets had been fried separately as opposed to being done with the potatoes, which personally I would have preferred. Both dishes would have been better with included veg but a dish of mixed veg would have been an extra £2.50. I dared not have my meal returned to the kitchen for fear of having to wait another 20 minutes for it to be heated up! I did point this out to the waiter when he returned for our plates though. Having ordered our free sweets, we actually got those about 15 mins later. Hubby had the strawberry baked cheesecake which he enjoyed but said was a little heavy and I had the chocolate brownie which was fab but I could have done with a little pot of the chocolate sauce which was only drizzled around the plate, as this was gorgeous - a really scrummy sweet and a must for chocolate lovers! The bill came to £24.70 which included 2 pints of fosters and a half of the strawberry draught beer which was quite expensive at £2.10 for half, but was very nice for a change. We will return to the New Conti and hopefully wont have to wait as long for our meals!
The Continental – PrestonThe place and people are great the food is some of the best Italian food I have ever had and I have been to some of the best London Italian's, hope they get there Michelin star soon.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeWe enjoyed a very good meal in beautiful surroundings at Mitton Hall. The only negative was that the food was lukewarm. However we did decide not to sit in the restaurant which probably created the problem. Well worth a visit. I am particularly looking forward to returning on a icy winters day to enjoy the huge roaring fires!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeFantastic value for money really nice dining area fantastic with my noisy 3 year old, the landlady a real gem, food is really good plenty to fill your belly with great portions, staff very pleasant, will def be returning xx
Holden Arms – RawtenstallWell done to the chefs and waiters - we had a great night. Everything was perfect. Thank you.
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnWent to The Clog & Billycock last night and was thoroughly impressed. All 3 courses were delicious but the clear winner was the tripe, trotters and black pudding. The presentation of all the food was great but there was a very big wait for our desserts ... luckily it was worth the wait!
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnWhat a delightful find! The food is not expensive but is fresh & tasty and of a good sized portion too - I can recommend the Boerewors! The staff offer very good service & are family-friendly. Excellent play area for kids. Looking forward to our next visit from Yorkshire!
The Stork Inn – LancasterSituated on the Morecambe promenade, this small Chinese restaurant offers great food at reasonable prices. Only a few doors away is the "Honey Tree" chinese restaurant, which is much bigger, much pricier, and not quite as good.
The Golden Lion – MorecambeGo to the Italian orchard for all special events new year, birthdays etc never had a bad meal always excellent and will be visiting again very soon.
Italian Orchard – PrestonWe had a fantastic Golden Anniversary celebration for our parents with a party of 30 including 13 kids. The menu was tempting catering to all needs including 1/2 sizes for smaller appetites. Food excellent quality and tasty babotie! Nothing was too much trouble. Great beer garden and play area too. Couldn't fault anything. We'll be back!
The Stork Inn – LancasterI always like to be at the opening of a new ribble valley inn. So here i was with friends on a tuesday evening. I know that they were probably still bedding in. Therefore my gripes will have hopefully disappeared when i go the next time. For starters we went for the lightly battered cauliflower with a curry mayonnaise and the mini sausages. Love em. Then i ordered the ribs.. Gutted, they hadn't been cooked long enough. Still tough. Lets just say i'm using the three fishes ribs as the bench mark. Then i ordered the mutton pudding, absolutely gorgeous, the mutton tender. What completely spoiled it for me though was that it looked like they had used the sauce from the ribs with the peas in and covered the mash with it. The venue itself is what you'd expect from the RVI group. You cannot fault it. Oh and the Pinotage was at the right temperature and drunk a dream.
Clog and Billycock – Blackburni wouldn't recommend going, i found there wasn't much of a variety on the menu, yes you get alot for your money but on the sign outside it says homecooked, i got a chicken curry with rice and chips the curry and rice tasted worse than a microwave one and the chips was frozen ones, i also waited 45 mins for them to bring desert which i thought was terrible theyd cleaned other peoples plates away who had finished and turned up after us. overall 3/10
Windmill Hotel – BlackburnI have been to Porcinis a number of times but last night was amazing. The new chef only started yesterday but has made a huge difference. Porcinis has gone from great to fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. PS. It is open for lunch during the week too!
Porcinis – PrestonWe went to Clog and Billycock the next day after their opening. We enjoyed the very British menu. I had whitebait for starters while my husband had the pork ribs with chick peas. Both were excellent and the quantities were big. I had the lobster from specials menu and hubby had mutton pudding for mains and they were deliciously cooked. Starting quibbles or teething troubles...I don't know but the waitress offered us to look at the desserts menu even before we got the mains!. And she did it twice?? Nevermind :) We had to skip the desserts as we were too full by this time. The wine list and beer list was good too. I recommend it highly, kids are welcome and its a great place for family meals. Its a very posh looking pub and they have refurbished the place with a bit of class and style.
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnHad lunch at the Railway yesterday, 16/09/08, and cannot praise it highly enough. The food was great and the staff attentive and caring. We had a baby with us and the staff seated us at a good sized table and couldn't do enough to help. Prices reasonable for quality of food too. Fudge with coffee to die for!! I'll definitely be back
