Good food served in a friendly warm pub.Whats not to like

We had a very lovely meal at The Ship inn. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and very nicely presented. We will definitely be back!

Having enjoyed two previous visits to the Ship for Friday lunch, we had no hesitation in booking to treat our daughter and two young grandchildren. We arrived early, to an empty pub and settled at a nice table. The young barmaid seemed inexperienced in her role and ill informed about the menu, particularly in relation to gluten free dietary needs. We ordered one gluten free and one regular fish and chips, a gluten free burger and chips (with the non gf roll to be served separately for the children to eat) and a child’s pizza for the young ones to share. The burger and roll were side by side on the plate, defeating the object and the burger was over cooked and dry. The chips served with both fish plates were tepid and not at all to the standard of previous visits. With hungry young children we opted to just get on with the food. Sauces were not delivered and we had to repeat the request. On settling the bill, the barmaid enquired if everything was okay with our meals. I tried to explain that our experience was disappointing compared to previous visits but she was ill equipped to receive or respond to my comments. What should have been a treat fell very flat and was most disappointing.

Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and tasty food. One of my favourite spots in town. Highly recommended.

Had an excellent Sunday roast and enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day afternoon here. The service was great and the pub is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent meal and service. Menu has traditional pub food and also more unusual dishes.

Lovely staff and delicious food with fresh vegetables. The portions are large which is a shame as I don't like to waste food but couldn't manage it all. Maybe some smaller portions would work.

Yet again an excellent high quality, high value meal at The Station, Steak pie superb as were the haddock goujons.. Friendly and attentive staff who fully deserved the 12.5% tip. regards to all Nigel Bates

Came with a friend for tea as it was a convenient meeting place after work. The food was excellent, with a really varied choice. The staff were friendly and attentive to detail. The whole place had a friendly and lively vibe- we will definitely be back.

Very busy when we arrived but shown to our table quickly. Service was brilliant, quick and attentive. Food great. Altogether a lovely evening, totally recommend the venue. Many thanks for all your hard work. We will be back!

As always, great service, great food and great gin. Staff are always smiling. The landlady is to be commended.

Lovely meal, and great vegan choices for me, we all enjoyed our meals, enjoyed the location, although we initially found it tricky to get to as my father has mobility issues and didnt realise could not park near the pub. However we would definately go again, very welcoming and helpful, lovely pub.

Great atmosphere, food and service. Nice selection of things on the menu.

Warm welcome and good service. When we arrived there was no music playing which was great. Then it came on - just more background noise to talk over.
