Fantastic food and service. This was our first visit to sultans and we wernt disappointed. The staff were great, especially Ash who ensured we were well looked after. The food was tasty and really good quality. We did come in for a birthday meal, Ash made sure the birthday girl was made to feel special. Overall a brilliant meal and a great atmosphere.

Terrible food. Don’t mind paying good money for good food however we paid over £155 for some very low quality food as well as the service. We did not expect Michelin star dining so please don’t think our expectations were over the roof however being served a mix grill with 1 kebab and 2 chops with A dry tandoori game chicken breast for over £12 is absolutely ridiculous. Followed by the curries which were bland and sweet? Food was clearly warmed up in a microwave or put into a dish on the stove and served. I’m assuming the manager was the one wearing a COVID 19 face shield Who just seemed rude and not interested with customers. I witnessed many people just try gain staff attention to order/ask for assistance but it took staff ages to get to them! Toilets were not a good sight either. For a building with its history and character this restaurant is a huge let down! We visited on Saturday evening (just so you know our review is not fake like the other 5* ones written by sultans employeees) lol

Great food, good service and nice place, would definitely go again!

Excellent food and service at a reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed.

We ate at this restaurant on Friday 6th Mar. We started the meal with a couple of cocktails which were expertly made. We then ordered our starters of Mussels for him and oysters for me. The mussels came in a tomato and chorizo broth that was very rich and packed full of flavour, the oysters were served on ice with a shallot vinegar and sweet chilli, both were very tasty. For main course, I ordered the cod and he ordered the Seabass. The cod came with a Lobster velouté, medley of steamed greens, soft poached egg + sourdough croutons and was cooked perfectly, the sea bass came with Smoked bacon lardons, tomato, white wine, basil, garlic concasse, tiger prawns + chargrilled asparagus and again fantastic, the mains came with Dophinoise potatoes to share. This was all washed down with a good Sauvignion and then followed with another couple of cocktails.....hic! We were not rushed at all throughout and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be making a return visit soon

Beautiful interior with a very helpful and friendly host and waitress. There was a great choice in food which was well presented and tasty. The service was instant and well organised considering there was a large group of us. Would definitely return if we come back to Lancaster.

Visiting our daughter who is studying at Lancaster University. Had a terrific meal, the monkfish was delicious. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. Definitely returning.

First ate at the sultan over twenty years ago, it had a very good reputation then and having recently moved back to the area it is still excellent. The dishes are well prepared and I've always found the staff very friendly and attentive. Always recommend it.

Good food and ambience.

This was a Sunday afternoon offer pre theatre. The Staff in the resturaunt were good, very helpful, and had to help to overcome the complaints about the quality of the meals served.There were 2 tables occupied, and both tables (4 people) had problems with the quality of food served.The soup was ok. Both tables ordered beef (3 people) it arrived cold ,very fatty,with no green veg, the yorkshires were burnt to a crisp, On request, we were informed there was no Horseradish Sauce!! I had a very poor Risotto. cold ,stodgy.We were offered replacements,but we declined,as the first meals were so bad. if you wish to make a success of this resturaunt, you should employ a Chef who can cook.Our first experience in your resturaunt will be our last,and unless you can dramatically improve the quality of food served, your business wont last long

We visited the Mad Hunter in Lancaster on Valentines Day after hearing great things about the restaurant. On arrival we were shown to our table near to the bar, we were offered drinks and given the set special menu to choose from. For starters we chose the baked scallops and the exotic tatare, both came beautifully presented and were very tasty. For our main course we both ended up having Monkfish, prawns and mussels in a South African Savannah, again served beautifully, piping hot and tasty. For desert we opted for the Chocolate sharer.....................of which I didn't get much! (Not sure the other half understands the concept of sharing chocolate!) but what I did have was lovely. All in all a great visit. We will definitely return

A great night in a loo very venue. Very attentive staff. Beautifully presented food and very tasty. The spicing, heat and flavour was exceptional Prices are excellent Peshwari Naan was to die for

Dear Dean( Restaurant Manager), My wife Janet and I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Burns Supper on Saturday, 25th January. It was a masterstroke having the piper playing various Scottish tunes up at the nearby Lancaster Castle. ( might be an option to have the lad playing 30-40 mins rather than a full hour). Being piped down into the Kings Arms Hotel was fantastic, food and drinks service, and met a lovely couple called Dudley and Brenda. The food and drinks all well received, although I could have a lot more haggis initially! It was a nice touch being offerd a cocktail, but unfortunately had to pass as I was running a fell race the following morning in Kendal! Perhaps a toast to the Haggis, and a short speech on the Immortal Memory of Rabbie Burns. Congratulations on the inaugural Burns Supper by the Kings Arms Hotel. Alan and Janet Wyllie

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The glassware was beautiful and the restaurant is clean and well decorated. Their menu was misspelled in several places and the maple parsnips were so underdone no one could eat them. When we told the waitress the chef fobbed her off with a frankly ridiculous explanation and they were triple cooked and the maple syrup made them hard. There’s a big difference between cooked crispy hard and solid raw in the middle hard. The place was empty apart from one other quiet customer and the waitresses were absent for large amounts of time, our meals were practically gone before we managed to tell anyone about our uneaten parsnips. Still, we had a good evening all the same.
