Panoramic 34 – Liverpool City CentreI love Malmaison chain, the decor, the opulence the feeling of all embracing intimacy- so i was looking forward to eating in the Brasserie in the new Liverpool Malamison. I was sadly, slightly disappointed. Booking was fine and was accommodated for 7.45pm. We had a drink in the bar first, who passed the bill on to the restaurant so we could carry our drinks through to the brasserie. Seating was a little low at the table, but comfortable. My dining partner was seated in a corner next to a brick wall which left her a little limited for people watching! Starters were very nice, risotto and crispy duck pancakes. Mains of steak frites and swordfish were chosen. I had the swordfish with Mediterranean veg- the fish was over cooked slightly and the veg- sparse at best. I was told the steak was fine. Dessert was apple, pear and bramble crumble which was delicious. Choice from the menu would cover most tastes but was a little unadventurous, perhaps a bit more variety would be better. Service initially was good but as the brasserie got busier, tailed off a little, waiting 30 mins after being given dessert menu to receiving dessert was frustrating. The bill was wrong when it eventually arrived, overcharged by £35, and included a discretionary 10% service charge. After the bill was corrected we were further delayed in attempting to pay for it. These last few point although not major did add a rather bitter note to what had been a perfectly pleasant dining experience. Surroundings 7/10 Menu choice 6/10 Food 6.5/10 Service 5/10 Price 5/10 I'd go again, but would advise an earlier dining time when the staff may be able to cope with the number of people in the place.
Malmaison Brasserie – Liverpool City CentreI have dined there before with workmates and often we get the excellent salt and pepper squid but this evening I went to Jumbo City with some friends from out of the City. We decided to order the 'set menu A' for four. The staff were friendly and there was no problem changing the soup from the advertised Won Ton to chicken and sweetcorn. The soup was served piping hot and was very tasty. Next came the spring rolls and ribs which were absolutely delicious. We had quite a wait until the main courses were served as the restaurant was quite busy but it was worth the wait. The egg fried rice was served and no fewer than five dishes brought out for us to share all of which were cooked to perfection. At £52 for four (£13 a head) the meal could not really be classed as expensive My only complaint, if it could be called a complaint, was that there was so much food myself and my guests could not eat it all and even this was not a problem as the staff were happy to 'box up'what could not be consumed so we could take it home. In my opinion Jumbo City is the top chinese restaurant in Liverpool and well worth a visit. After this visit my guests were of the same opinion.
Jumbo City – Liverpool City Centresavina duke street liverpool. the decor is simple and exceptionally clean, the food is absolutely fantastic, the staff are very attentive, and the atmosphere is wonderful, we would recommend this restaurant to anyone from anywhere visiting the Liverpool area, everything about this place especially the food, really is exceptional, thank you Savina, for a really lovely night. jackie and gary.
Savina – Liverpool City CentreWow!!! What an amazing view and fantastic service and food. The setting is brilliant and I would definitely go back again.

Panoramic 34 – Liverpool City Centregreat food at Monro - took fussy friends for a meal there - they loved it, will be going back again. The posh fish and chips are the very, very best I have ever tasted! staff are so friendly.
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreA truly good night good food and service at a fantastic price of £10.95 for 3 course. The only criticism would be that the tables are to close together.
Bistro Pierre – Liverpool City CentreWent along with a large group in early April 08. I agree with the verdict of great food - but from a fairly limited menu. Started with the Chicken Salad (which had me reaching for the water; that's some sauce on it!) followed by medium rare steak. Both excellent. Others had fishcake to start with salmon, also very recommended. Finished with cheesecake, which was a bit of a let-down as although made on the premises, had no real substance. The chairs are low, but comfortable enough you don't notice. On the downside, it's amazingly loud and conversation is out of the question without yelling straight into ears. I needed to make a call, but there was no chance inside, so I tried a staircase and was told it was staff only and got shoved out into the smoking area, where it was raining heavily. The queueing for the club area downstairs made it almost impossible to get back in and you can't take a phone and stand in the lobby. It's also very dark and there's only one gents cubicle for the entire restaurant area. Great grub and the crianza and service was top notch too. But they need to work on the 'atmosphere' - maybe I'm getting old, but spending two hours yelling at my mates over dinner isn't my cup of tea.
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreVisited Restaurant after seeing a concert at the Echo arena. Food was fantastic, great service and in a traditional taverna atmosphere! The decor is a bit old fashioned but it felt like we were on holiday! Would definitely go back.
Bacchus Taverna – Liverpool City Centrehaving read the recommendations on sugarvine I decided to book a table..the only available slot was 6pm ... too early I thought (dead time of the night, no atmosphere etc)well I like to be surprised (don't we all) the restaurant is low key in decor .. but very high key in attentive service & food quality. You will not find any better or fresher sushi in the northwest ..the presentation alone is fantastic the mix set of Nigiri sushi for two represents amazing value. The mains are equally amazing ..again expertly cooked very well presented & totally moorish..you have to try the ice creams be brave & go for the black sesame ..it's the most bizarre taste ..at first a bit uggh but as it melts in your mouth you get the most wonderful nutty almost peanut brittle taste developing ..The staff are really good ..from the two ladies who served us .... I asked about saki to go with my sushi and was given a very informative & helpful response..product knowledge again was fantastic ..I spoke to one of the owners who was warm & enthusiastic & so friendly The biggest surprise was the bill I had budgeted for about £80-90 including wine & tip.Total bill for 2 with wine ..fantastic food ..fantastic friendly service...£52 WOW ..It may be small but it's got a big future..
Etsu – Liverpool City CentreVisited Liverpool at the weekend and was fortunate to stumble across this fantastic restaurant. Food excellent, staff welcoming and friendly, great atmosphere. Fantastic!
Bacchus Taverna – Liverpool City CentreWe went for a quick lunchtime bite. The food was excellent. A brunch half stack (sausages, eggs, toast, bacon & black pudding). Black pudding & wild mushrooms on ciabbata Chickpea, chorizo, cabbage soup with crusty bread. The prices were reasonable. Food was sourced locally - Muffs Black Pudding & Sausages. Friendly staff. And of course it's own brewery and fantastic range of beers on offer.
The Baltic Fleet – Liverpool City Centrefantastic restaurant. i would highly recommend this restaurant. the lighting is a bit dim but the service and quality of food is fantastic. well worth the visit :)
La Vina – Liverpool City Centrewe ate twice here while in Liverpool, and would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys spanish tapas. Heather and Andy Johnston. (Scotland)
La Vina – Liverpool City CentreSushi is a risky proposition when eating out. Pizza, even when done poorly, is usually edible. Bad sushi can ruin your whole week. Good sushi, well, that's what I had a Etsu, outstanding in fact. The restaurant itself is quite utilitarian, with the typically, slightly spartan, clean lines one associates with Japanese culture. That said it's still a very friendly atmosphere and the owner seems to feel passionately about providing an authentic experience of high-quality Japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price, rather than the usual dog and pony show that accompanies often overpriced, greasy food at a typical Teppan-Yaki restaurant. The party I was with had a wide variety of Sushi and Negri, shiro misu (soup), curry and interesting desserts. Given the often poor quality of Liverpool dining I would say that this is a definite departure from the norm. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to make informed recommendations. The quality of the Sushi is amongst the highest I've ever experienced anywhere, being neatly and tightly made, fresh and delicately flavoured. The choice was excellent and, considering the price, superb value for money. The quality of the ingredients was obviously high. A good marker of a chef, in my experience, is how they handle a simple dish like a soup. In this case, the simple miso soup (beancurd, bean paste, spring onion etc) was delicious. For a desert, we tried: Green tea ice cream - refreshing; a pear tart - delicious; and a purple, roasted sesame ice cream -- weird, nutty, sweet, creamy, very more-ish! Overall, the meal for four was excellent value for money and represented a refreshing change from typical eating out in Liverpool. If I were to be critical at all, I'd say the portion sizes were on the large side for some things. I mentioned this to the manager who told that they had started out even larger! They are also authentically Japanese in their liking for high-tech. They have an electronic toilet that does some interesting things and the loudest hand dryer in the universe that dries your hands instantly. The attitude of "customers come first" is evident and provided that Liverpudlians want a true experience of Japanese cuisine performed as it should be then Etsu should do hugely well.
Etsu – Liverpool City CentreEnjoyed a lovely dinner here last night, arrived without making a reservation and was quickly shown to a table. the place was booming for a Saturday tea time. skipped the starters and went for a pasta dish and my partner a lasagna. mine was delicious. i also like the atmosphere in here-would deffo recommend
Casa Italia – Liverpool City CentreI have recently discovered a little gem of a find for sushi lovers. When i arrived there was a friendly welcome with good lighting and a well designed lay out. the staff were very friendly and the service was exceptional and don't let me mention the food which i have got to say was out of this world i cant begin to tell you what to try its all fantastic but i will mention the chef special its so unique you cant go without trying it and all of this at a great price YOU JUST SIMPLY HAVE TO TRY IT.
