Bellavista – RochdaleThe starter was very good but both of our main courses although pleasant were far more Chinese tasting than Thai. I was told by the head waiter that it was no longer owned by the original Thai owners but now owned by a Chinese family. So if you like Chinese food more than Thai it has a good menu choice.
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleWe (there were 4 of us) went on a Sunday evening at about 5:15pm it was not very busy, the service was fast they came and seated us as soon as we arrived; the staff were all very pleasant. Having not been before we were not aware of how the system worked so as we looked at the menu we saw that people on other tables were ordering about 3-4 dishes each, so we picked out about 4 dishes each, my daughter who was a bit apprehensive about the food ordered what she recognised ( i.e. chicken wings, meatballs). The order came in about 5 minutes and it was all very hot and you could tell that it had all been freshly made (we had white fish in batter and it was still sizzling) all the other things we ordered were very nice and so we all picked at each others dishes, I had ordered roast potatoes in a spicy sauce, and when I came to get them my daughter had eaten most of them. After we had polished off the whole lot the waiter came and gave us the menu back to look at and we then picked other dishes, some we had not yet tried and some of the same (I got 2 lots of the potatoes this time). I do believe that we could have picked again but by that time we were all full. For drinks we had a jug of sangria, and a total of 4 cokes and also 2 pints of larger. And there were also 2 chocolate cakes. The bill came to £67, we did have a bit of a problem with the bill (they charged us £11.95 for the buffet, which is the Saturday night price) but I will take that as a genuine mistake, after we pointed it out they changed it. All in all it was a very nice meal and we will be going back again, but the only problem is that you could not go here every week as with only 40 items on the tapas menu and with 4 of you going you would soon have gone though the whole lot.
La Salsa – HorwichHi there everyone, I've gone to all this trouble to set up Zouk Restaurant on Sugarvine.com because it just could not be missed. The second restaurant after Bradford site just opened a couple of weeks ago and it's taken Manchester with a great big BANG! it's Fantastic! Big and beautiful together with the most divine food I've ever tasted. The staff---Very helpful and friendly, although the place looks like only superstar should go in, you are made very special and it's not over the top with the pricing. If your looking for great atmosphere and something new Then Zouk is differently the place to visit. We'II see you there!!
Zouk Tea Bar – Manchester City CentreAfter reading all the recommendations, we went to Red Chili to sample their menu. Arrived at about 6pm, a very encouraging sign is that it is already half full. We didn't have to wait long for our table, but the seating was very cramp to say the least. First impression is that the place is too dark; the seating too cramp; like every other person is sitting on the other's lap. With the new trend swinging towards the light and airy feel; this is a step backward. Personally, we did feel claustrophobic. Because there are a lot of people cramming in a very small space; and with A/C off during the first 30 min, it was very very stuffy indeed. We had to wait at least 20 min for our order to taken. And another 30 min for the food to arrive. After all the waiting, the food finally arrived. But there was one dish missing; as before we have to attract their attention to let them know what had happen. which is about another 10 mins. It was a missed order and we have to wait another 10 mins for it. Generally, the food was on the greasy side, but it was ok. Considering there are 7 to 8 service staff, you must think the service would be great. Not so, absolutely no service to speak of; no one even bother to ask whether our food was all right. All the Staff is moving around very slowly as if they were half asleep. No smile what so ever. But they were laughing and joking in the Bar area !? The place is only half full. Imagine what would it be like if it were full. The Manager seen to be doing all the odd jobs except looking after the customers, which is what he is paid for. Let other staff do these miscellaneous jobs. It is not as though they have not got enough staff. After asking for the bill, we have to wait almost 15 mins for the change after they collect it back. Did they think it was their tips? The food is ok, but the seating is cramp; the whole place claustrophobic; the service unprofessional and unfriendly. All in all, not a very good experience. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone on this occasion !!
Red Chilli – Manchester City CentreThe ambience was good and the service was OK but I'm afraid I didn't find their food "authentic" at all (I should know this since I am Korean...) Never heard of Koreans using pineapples in their traditional cooking! Food was overall OK but fairly bland, Kimchi was not spicy enough and a tad bit pricey for the quality. And please, hire at least one person who speaks Korean! This IS Korean restaurant after all.
Koreana – Manchester City CentreI go to the Jai Kathmandu quite often for my Nepalese food or indian food. Currys, Pillau, Masala or whatever you fancy and a small variety of Desserts. Sometimes to eat in and some times for a take away. In either case the food is great. I last had a Lamb biryani take away which comes with a vegetable course. Large and plentiful pieces of lamb. Fresh spices for flavour, not to burn your mouth out. No rubbishy "additives" or flavourings. Just great food cooked really well. I am diabetic and cannot tolerate large amounts of sugars. I find the menu with its large variety of options and tastes just down my street whilst not harmful to me. There is a little sugar in some of the dishes but not a lot and of course you can always check if you have any alergies, ie nuts. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The house wine quite reasonable. I am sold on the place, reasonably priced and one restaurant out of "Town" I recommend for that bit of superior class in Nepalese or Indian cuisine. Enjoy people.
Jai Kathmandu – NorthendenSan Carlo is a must for anyone who enjoys an atmospheric and high quality evening. The seafood is peerless and the wine list as extensive as you will find at this level. We use San Carlos both in an evening and also for lazy (drunken) lunches with the kids and friends - despite its standing San Carlo is fantastic for children as you would expect from the Italians. Cannot speak too highly of this place - go there soon!
San Carlo – Manchester City CentrePlease do not go for a meal here. I attended last sunday with my family. I ordered roast lamb, it tasted like it had been cooked in floor cleaner, and the boiled potatoes were from a tin. I even heard someone at the check out desk complain about the same poor food they also looked very disappointed. Unfortunately i needed to use the gents on the way out ? it was disgraceful. The smell was of stale urine and very overpowering. What a shame this beautiful location has been spoiled by bad Food and unclean facilities. Take my advice STAY well clear of this establishment.
The Owls At Standish – Wiganits shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leo’s – HorwichVisited Dough for the first time on Valentines. Whilst the Northern Quarter is not the most pleasant area of Manchester it does provide ample parking. Dough however offers a very pleasant dining environment. Modern, minimalist, bright and very clean. The space between tables was more than many restaurants afford their guests and this spacious feel combined with a young mixed gender clientele created the a very relaxed and enjoyable ambience. The staff were very attentive whilst not being overpowering. We were assigned a designated waiter and he was excellent. For starters we shared baked dough sticks served with balsamic vinegar & olive oil and a mango, vine tomatoes and red onion salad dressed with basil infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The salad in particular was excellent. Throughout the evening the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Our pizza main course was served with perfect timing. We eagerly consumed the Funghi and American options. In our opinion the pizzas were on a par with the Olive Garden and far superior to other Manchester restaurants we have dined at. The big difference and clearly important at the moment was the low prices charged by the Dough. To pay so little for such a pleasant dining experience mans we will be going back again and again. A great night.
Dough Pizza Kitchen – Northern Quarteri went to this place tonight and the service was awful along with the food . was very disappointed . i will never go back to this restaurant again and i have told all friends and family not to bother . worst meal i have had in a very long time
Casa Belmondo – RoytonMe and my girl friend went to Fu's on Valentines night, the restaurant was very busy but the quality of the food didn't suffer and we had a really enjoyable meal (salt and pepper chicken was lovely), we've been disappointed on previous Valentines night but not this time at Fu's, so Thanks for making our night really enjoyable Mr Fu and his staff.
Fus Chinese Restaurant Cafe – Manchester City CentreDon't be fooled by the outside appearance or location of this place, as it is one of the best restaurants I have ever been too!! All food is obviously cooked fresh and locally sourced. Must try the home made breads!!!
The Cedar Tree at the Sheaf – Rochdalesome of the best fish and chips I have tasted for a long time. The chips were brown and dry and the fish was large, fresh and cooked in a light crispy batter. The menu was quite varied, including scampi, pies, puddings, etc as well as a selection of starters and desserts. The Fish Bar, which only opened in January, together with the cafe, are beautifully designed and decorated with an entirely black and white theme. The only criticism which I have is that, although the staff are friendly and helpful, the service is quite slow
METRO Fish Bar – BuryFirst visit this week with some work colleagues , friendly staff , nice atmosphere , the platters for starters for sharing are excellent , then i can recommend the stir fry dishes and fish dishes , my colleagues from Holland & America enjoyed the food.
Buddha Lounge – RamsbottomWorst place I have ever been.
Nam Ploy – BoltonCame here tonight with a visitor to Stockport. The Kalimari was exquisite and everything tasted authentic that made for a `good mood` feeling both with the cosy ambience and in the tummy. Indeed a `hidden gem`.
