Without a doubt, the best authentic Bangladeshi cooking around. Everything prepared to order. The Bengal fish curry is out of this world. Currently closed for major refurbishment but will be back with an even more varied menu in about 6 weeks.

If you, like me are tired of the burger / fries fast food culture (not to mention the health implications) then this is a real alternative. Barburrito's is an Authentic Mexican restaurant with excellent choice of dishes. I have been there 6-7 times over the past month and have never been disappointed by the quality of food or service. Excellent.

Eaten here loads of times. There are quite a few curry houses round here but only this one and Bilash Balti are worth going to. The Chicken Chilli Madras has to be tried, I kid you not.

New Far Pavilion – Swinton
Gripper Stebson

I eat there at least once a week. I am addicted and so are a number of my colleagues. The garlic naan is only comparable with the small but tasty naans at Shimla. The lamb is tender, the chicken plentiful, the keema spicy. Don't have the Rubicon pop though, it's minging.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Greens, excellent friendly service throughout and a great meal for both of us. Lots of big fresh flavours and excellent preparation without pretension, we'll definitely be back!

This is a brilliant restaurant!!!! To be honest it's probably my favourite restaurant in all the world!

Fuel is my favourite veggie cafe - I can't stop going back! The (vegetarian) sausage tacos are a must-try, with the divine burritos a close second. Not the cheapest lunch in Withington but the food is well worth the money. Better yet, there's plenty of parking nearby and wheelchair access into the cafe (although not, alas, the toilets, which are up a steep flight of stairs).

This is one of the best restaurants we have been to. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are so friendly. We had such a good time we will keep going back. The Spanish owner is a great laugh and such a nice man....he will make you feel very welcome. Jacqui and Lianne

This was our third visit - early Sunday evening and the place was nicely busy but not hectic so the service was first class. The food, however was a tad disappointing with a somewhat waxy textured black pudding and risotto cake for starters and a smallish fillet of sea bass for mains. Previous visits have impressed with quality, quantity and ambience so hopefully not every day is like Sunday!

We always enjoy our visits to Francs. Like the last reviewer, we have never had any problems over the service, and have always found the staff very friendly, and the fact that it is always busy proves that they can't be doing too much wrong. We took some friends just before Christmas and from their comments on how much they enjoyed it, it looks as though this will become a regular event The choice from the menu is always difficult as there are so many tempting dishes, although if they have the moules mariniere on the specials board I don't bother to look any further.

Firstly Manchester is a truly great night out now, with Deansgate and Deansgate Locks, the Northern Quarter, Oxford road and of course the gay 'village', you really can? be disappointed. Add in some super new restaurants and its the perfect night out. EASTZEAST is an excellent addition, good location, on princess street behind the BBC, it for us, rivals Rajdoot and Shimlas and we think it wins hands down. Authentic Indian with a great menu (check out the web site, v impressive) v busy on the Friday night, we WILL certainly be going again. Oh yea order a Naan at your peril, there huge!! Massive recommendation.

Third visit to Smiths and excellent food and service again. Fixed menu is excellent value with great choice - not something you see on fixed menus. Highly recommend.

I've been to the Rice Bowl a couple of times and on both occasions it has been a very enjoyable experience. The food is superb and the menu caters well for us vegetarians. The staff were also excellent and offered a level of service sorely lacking in a lot of restaurants nowadays. On my second visit I was with a party of twelve as it was my birthday. Surprisingly we were able to order from the full menu, something which a lot of restaurants won't allow you to do. At the end of the meal I was presented with ice cream dessert with candles whilst the whole restaurant sang happy birthday. Then to top it all they gave me a box of chocolates and wished me a happy birthday. It's that kind of personal touch that makes all the difference! It's clear to see how this restaurant has lasted over 50 years in the business.

First the only gripe of the whole evening. The background muzac! It was the sort of generic house stuff that gets played in gyms and has no place in a 5* hotel dining room. Rant over, now the good bits. Two dined, arriving at 8pm, we were greeted in the bar and shown through to our table in the restaurant, which was about a third full. This surprised me as it was a Thursday, but then we were on a promotional offer so I suppose if they need to do promotions there is a reason for it! So seated, we receive our first glass of complimentary champagne. I couldn't see what label it was as it was in a bucket behind my seat, but as a not particularly big fan of champers, I thought this was jolly good. Choice of three breads was offered, White ,Brown and Beetroot. Good, but nothing to write home about. First course was a small coffee cup filled with delicious minted pea soup with pear and lobster. Gorgeous! Second course was two perfectly cooked roast Cornish scallops studded with black pudding and cider, with some sort of mayo like sauce. Very good, black pudding was just the right amount, didn't overpower the scallops. Third course was tournedos of Aberdeen Angus with horseradish mash and shallots jus. I had mine rare, dining partner had hers medium rare. I think medium rare was the better choice, as they are very thick fillets, and the heat hadn't quite got to the middle of mine. Other than that it was very good, served on wilted spinach over the mash-all lovely. Feeling rather full now, but without prompting we were asked if we would like a break before desert, gladly accepted! So after ten minutes(ish) we get pud. Bread and butter pudding with spiced raisin syrup, almost like a brulee. Very nice, especially the raisins/syrup. Really full now! Coffee and petit fours. Bill was £90 including large bottle of mineral water, service charge of ten percent and a round up tip. So for £45 a head I have to say it was extremely good value! 18/20

Had lunch and dinner here and both excellent as was the service. Very popular at weekends so best to book. Superb oysters, fabulous duck and at lunch time salad and pud of ice cream and hot coffee excellent. However have heard quibbles about lobster and crab salad small portions.

La Tasca has grown substantially in popularity, but the food was pretty average. The ribs were a bit too fatty but the waitress took those off our bill. Patatas bravas at £3-odd was rather on the dear side
