I have followed Carlos, the owner of Casa Carlos, around Wigan since he first started trading at the Seven Star on Preston Road outside Standish. His food his authentic, tasty, not too expensive. Casa Carlos has been refurbished in a contemporary style and his very pleasant. The only thing that lets it down is the lack of Spanish staff (but that is a personal opinion) and may be a bit more training for the staff, which seem young and inexperienced (but not unpleasant!). All in all, if you are looking for some good spanish food, go there, you won't be disappointed.

Consistently good quality and probably the best Chinese food in the area. Staff always friendly without being intrusive. Strongly recommend a visit

My first visit here was at the least, very very entertaining. The service was top notch. For example, our lively host, seeing there was only 2 of us, went out of his way to find us a cosy table for 2. The food was excellent - and you do get lots of it so come hungry! Throughout our meal the waiters made sure we were at ease - and this was on a busy Saturday night. I'd definitely return again and again.

Went to Velvet on a Wednesday night and the whole evening was brilliant. Huge portions!! They do an offer of a starter & main for £11.95 from 3-7pm & it was well worth it as that? the price for a main dish alone. Our table had mussels to start, and a mixed combo (mussels were delicious) and then Moroccan Lamb (beautifully cooked on a tomato-stew like base) and a sirloin steak with masses of chips & a huge salad. We couldn? finish our main courses & next time (there will definitely be a next time!) would probably just opt for mains! A brilliant, intimate, lavishly furnished restaurant - perfect for drinking copious amounts of wine with delicious food. Brilliant!

My wife and I eat regularly here and the food is really outstanding. Cost for a meal for two including starter with 1/2 litre of wine was around £37 which we consider to be excellent value for money

My partner and I took advantage of the Wednesday special offer and had a most wonderful evening. The place is small but this provides a nice ambience and the food was truly splendid. I will be returning that? for sure

Live across from True Taste and their food is excellent and run by really friendly guys. Mushroom Pilau is miles better than anything on Brick Lane x

What more can I say about the place except always a pleasure. We eat there as often as we can, the food is great, the service is great & the ambience is great. All this at a reasonable cost.

Always a very nice place to eat with tasty food & a good atmosphere at a reasonable price. Try the main floor on a Saturday night for the Blues Guy. Can be a bit noisy but a unique offering for a meal in Manchester on a Saturday night. Try the Mussels for Starter & Zizi (meatballs) for the main if they're still doing them - excellent.

I love this place! The food is authentic in a way that most anglicised eastern restaurants don't match. Tasty, ultra quick, and top value for money. What more do you want?

Fantastic one of my favourite, if not, my favourite restaurant food exceptional, excellent service and great ambiance. We?e moved 80 miles away but still travel there. the lunches are great value too.

I can quite honestly say this is the best italian restaurant I have ever been to. Excellent choice of authentic food on offer and the daily specials board displayed a wonderful array of fish starters and mains. Both my partner and I had 3 courses, all of which were fantastic on both accounts. Great service, great ambience and great food at a very reasonable price. Try it and you'll agree.

Simple, well cooked fresh food. Had the calamari, which tasted very fresh and was well presented. My friend had the baguette, which again was tasty and very fresh. Good bar food and the specials look great. We've been there for lunch and after work. It's also a great bar!

Urmston at last has a quality eatery, meaning I don't have to go to Manchester every time I want a meal that is a bit special. I tried Isinglass for the first time this Wednesday, and it will certainly be the first of many visits. Our table for 4 enjoyed every course. The smoked salmon and potato tart with dill sauce was top drawer, and my Game Pie, stuffed with venison, quail, rabbit and woodpigeon was so filling I couldn't manage the cheese board I had been so looking forward to. My wife and our two friends each had a dessert that they raved about. I have read reviews on some sites, which I just cannot understand. The service was great, I for one don't want to be rushed when enjoying quality food, the background music gave an excellent chilled atmosphere, and as stated the food was freshly cooked and extremely tasty. For the standard of food, the price was not overly expensive, certainly compared to some city centre establishments. All in all an excellent evening and I would strongly recommend Isinglass to anyone who would listen!
