Our group of family and friends dined at the Silk Room for a really special celebration, both the food and the surroundings lived up to expectations. The restaurant is very welcoming with a lovely intimate feeling. The service was both helpful and attentive. The food is beautiful, hearty and was met by approval by all our diners. The price is more than justified for the varied and exciting menu. I would recommend the restaurant very highly, and will be returning soon.

I have eaten in this restaurant several times since its transformation from Est Est Est and each time has been amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for the waitresses and the menu has something for everyone. The atmosphere is great for a celebration or cosy meal for two and the bartenders can wow you with their choice of cocktails and talent at making them!

We booked the Silk Room for 9.15pm and were not seated until gone 10pm. The 'Hexham' goats cheese bruscetta starter was rather low on any actual cheese (Hexham or otherwise) and was garnished with large lumps of raw onion. The king prawns tasted as if they had been recently defrosted. The long awaited main course arrived at about 11pm and the £16 cauterized 'Wagyu burger' (we had asked for medium) was only topped by the woefully flaccid chunky chips. The complementary apology drink did nothing to take the sting from the £66 bill. We would never eat there again.

We stumbled across Saroo one evening after having visited another restaurant just across the road. We decided we would give it a try the next time in the area, as the menu looked very good and the decor looked fresh and appealing. I have to say that Saroo has to be the finest Indian dining experience we have encountered in the North East. The food is of a very high standard, up there and surpassing the finest in the City Centre. The range of dishes ensures that there is something for everyone, and children are also welcome. The Staff are pleasant and unobtrusive, the range of dishes is excellent,so give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

I went with a big group of friends and everyone enjoyed their night - food was excellent, service was friendly and the price was very reasonable! I've been back since and left with the same satisfaction so will definitely be going back soon!

I have been visiting the Koh I Nor for over 30 years and have always found the same high standards for quality and value. I happily recommend this restaurant to others - the early evening menu is fantastic value.

I noticed that none of these reviews are very recent, so thought I should add my own. We went to the happy hour on Thursday 7th Jan, 2008. The waitress who served us barely spoke to use, the tables are very close together which means waiting staff push past you a lot. We ordered a garlic pizza bread with cheese which was very doughy and not really cooked properly and some pate stuffed mushrooms which were rather soggy. My boyfriend had a chicken kiev pizza, which was lovely. But I ordered the canneloni and it was awful. It was not traditional pasta tubes, the mince was undercooked and there was not much of it and the huge amount of spinach had turned the majority of the mince green so it did not look appertising. We also had some onion rings and, as I work in a restaurant, I knew that they were ones done from frozen. One waitress was lovely, the rest were rather rude. We were going to go to Mario's (down the road) and I really wish we had. The owner of Mamma Mia's clearly prides himself on his reviews as he has a sugarvine review stuck in his window. I think he needs to stop paying so much attention to his meetings with Gordon Ramsay and more to the quality of his food!

This was by far the worst dining experience i have ever encountered in my life. The service from the staff was so unprofessional. I traveled up from Norfolk on the Saturday to enjoy a night out with my partner and we were both very upset by what we had both seen. we waited 2 and a half hours for our food to even come out and the waiter that was serving us just did not have a clue as to what he was doing. 3 couples on other tables around us were complaining about the service. at 1 stage as a customer was complaining i watched 1 of the waiters blaitently pick his nose and flick it on the floor. Honestly do not even enter this place it's a total health hazard. and a disaster area.

My first encounter with this restaurant was when I dropped my wife off there for a night out with the girls from work one of which goes all the time. when I collected my wife at the end of the evening she was raving about the place. So we arranged to go with friends the next week. The owner and his staff are very friendly young people, the layout of the restaurant is very modern and stylish and most important of all the food is truly excellent. My circle of friends are all curry fans and are often to be found in the best curry houses of Tyneside. since I've introduced them all over a number of visits through January all have become avid fans of Saroo. I recommend the Chicken Boti starter. Main courses such as Nawabi Khanda and Muka are favourites of ours. On one occaison my wife ordered Tandoori cocktail and it was so large it came on two sizzlers! But it was quality as well as quantity. Two of my friends independently have commented to me that the peshwari naans are the freshest they've ever tasted. The one thing that strikes me more than anything else is that whereas most restaurants have a signature taste occurring in the dishes due to a base sauce being used, at the Saroo everything has it's own distinctive flavour. And yes, I'm booked in again this week with more friends which I'll be introducing to the delights of the saroo!

I am somewhat of a regular at Luigi's. It is an oasis in the midst of the Bigg Market. The food is ALWAYS fantastic. The service - phenomenal. You are in special luck if you are being served by Caroline or Chris. Fantastic, those two. The place wouldn't be the same without them!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle, service is usually very friendly yet professional and food is always fantastic. Last time I visited was in December with my husband and 6 month old baby for lunch (lunch menu is usually the same as the dinner menu and £10 per head cheaper!),the food as ever was fantastic but I found the waiters a bit stiff and surly, the waitresses were friendlier however. I don't think the waiters looked keen on us bringing the baby in - even though he was no bother and was quiet throughout the meal!

I cant say anything about this restaurant that would truly reflect how good it was. I went with a large group, we all had an excellent time, got very drunk on some sake and ate some fantastic food. I had steak with garlic and soy sauce (which I would recommend to anyone!), and found that for the night we had had the cost was worth it. I'l be back there soon!

A superbly pretty little cafe just off the bustle of Northumberland Street. Excellent tea and coffee, always very friendly service by the owner and other staff. The decor inside is ever so easy on the eye and makes the feel of the place nicely relaxed, along with the chilled music playing in the background. Excellent food & drink, excellent service, comfortable surroundings make for high recommendations.

Was recommended this restaurant by a friend and will definitely be going back. The Taste of Persia has an authentic feel about it and has a good choice of starters and mains, I would recommend the flat bread and selection of dips for starters, which were very tasty. For the main course I opted for the Barg which was fillet of lamb, which was succulent and tasted wonderfully char grilled. All the staff were friendly and the price is very reasonable, well worth a visit.

What a fabulous restaurant, I booked a table for my friend’s birthday who is a vegetarian, we all had a fantastic meal and one of the tastiest meals that I have had in a while. All the food was very fresh and filling and had rich flavours. Great as you can bring your own wine, which makes it considerably cheaper. The Sky Apple cafe gets booked up quickly and has a great atmosphere and staff are very accommodating, well worth a visit.
