i am a regular at Luigi's and have been for years. the food has always been fantastic at great prices and the staff treat you like a friend and always remember your face. best about it! . i didn't think it could get any better but it has!

Very disappointed by this restaurant. I went after reading the recommendations on this website on Sat 25th July. This is by no means good food (unless you are comparing it to microwave meals). Granted the entertainment is good but I've been to tepenyaki restaurants before and been more entertained. We had a cheap bag of salad to start followed by what was obviously a frozen spare rib, something that may have once resembled a scallop and a reasonably nice pork kebab. The main of chicken teryaki was tasty but I've had a lot better and the steak was bad quality meat, cut into tiny cubes and cooked until it was beyond eatible. Granted the rice and veg were nice but again, nothing spectacular. I attempted to wash this down with the worst (tasting and smelling) 1/2 pint of carling I have ever had (dirty glass and very bad lager - they should really check their pipes!) but had to give up and move onto the house beer (very nice by comparison). I must say I was sadly disappointed as this was not a cheap meal if it I had been in a table service Japanese restaurant, I would have sent the food back. The entertainment served as a slight distraction. Such a shame but I will be recommending that people don't go here. The people who have recommended on this site must have an interest in this business (or no taste buds)

Was very disappointed with the level of the food. I don't mind paying for quality but this was not it. I had the Kobe beef burger at around £17 which lacked flavour and had a few grizzly bits in to top it off. The prawn starter came in a gloppy overpowering garlic sauce. Until they install a decent chef the Silk Room is not worth visiting and compared to other similar priced venues such as Cafe 21 or Mal Maison.

Everytime I visit here I remember why I keep coming back, the staff are courteous and helpful, the food is well prepared and generous and the atmosphere makes a great evening. you can go as a couple for a meal with a difference or perfect for a celebration. Highly recommended

It was my wife's birthday recently so I had to find somewhere she would enjoy. We love the atmosphere of Stowell Street and my wife particularly enjoys Thai food. I booked Thai Siam because we have visited and enjoyed the Mandarin, the sister restaurant often before. At Thai Siam the staff were equally fantastic and took the time to advise on meals (for me). They understood my tastes exactly, were attentive and extremely polite. The food we must say was second to none, presented and cooked to perfection. We will definitely visit again, and again. Fantastic!

Mama Mia's is more than just a place to go for something to eat. Its very friendly owners and staff make it a delightful place to go for a relaxing delicious meal at a very reasonable price. They do a monthly 3 course special that has to be seen to be believed and a lunch and early evening happy hour menu. The size portions of all their meals, specials or otherwise are fantastic and the taste matches the size. My partner and I are regulars and I cannot remember a time when we have been able to eat 3 courses and with the price of their house wine so reasonable this makes for a cheap night out.

we found this diamond in the rough on a busy Friday night. the staff were accommodating and friendly and the food was fantastic! the place looked authentic and the food definitely tasted it. everything was noticeably fresh and i had HONESTLY one of the best pizzas i have ever had in there! my partner had a steak which was cooked to perfection! the prices did not reflect the food, i would have payed twice as much!!

My little secret is a secret no longer. The perfect tapas place, great food friendly service and the best Rioja I have ever tasted (Alto Rio). You must try here, but dont tell anyone else

We received excellent service, lovely wine selection and the food was all just right. I thoroughly enjoyed our evening out at the Orchid!

We have regularly visited Hanahana over the years but never written about our experiences. This is in our opinion the BEST Japanese restaurant in Newcastle and we have visited many. Paul and his staff are fantastic. We have never had a disappointing meal. The Saturday lunchtime menu is a delight and a bargain. The surroundings are adequate but I visit a restaurant for the food and service not the wallpaper etc. Try the sushi and the teppanyaki menus. Awesome!

My family and I always enjoy meals at Peppy's because of the friendly service provided by Vince, his wife and their staff. We'd always recommend this restaurant. My friend is coming over from Sedgefield especially to visit Peppy's and enjoy the food there} it's superb everyone should try it

Visited on a Monday evening and I was very impressed. The service was very friendly. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. The portions were bigger than I would normally expect for tapas. Particular highlights were the potatoes in a spicy sauce, the baked aubegine with cheese and the rice with mixed vegetables. With each dish being between £3 and £5, the food was great value as well as being very tasty. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and overall an excellent dining experience. Much better than that offered by some of the chain tapas restaurants.

This is my favourite restaurant in Newcastle, the food is incredibly reasonably priced, full of flavour and there is a fantastic variety. The waiting staff are great and friendly, I would eat here every night if I could.

This place has a lot to offer.Great choice of meal,excellent service,unbelievable prices and incredible atmosphere. Whenever I go there with my friends we just feel like being at home with people who will do anything to make sure you enjoy every second.What else can you wish for?

Just had the early evening special, £6.95 for starter, main, choice of rice + coffee. Only £2.50 for a nice chilled pint of lager. Have to say it was as good as any Indian meal I have had, big portions cooked as fresh as can be, couldn't fault it. Recommend keema pilau, peshwari nan and sag paneer to accompany. Only a couple of other people dining so service was perfect. Tip; You may have to ask for the special menu as they were handing out the full price ones otherwise.

such a great spot for a restaurant - feels like you have escaped the city! tried black pudding for the first time on my last visit and it was superb, followed by a really delicate north sea fish cake. a thoroughly enjoyable meal. I always enjoy going to blackfriars.

A visit to the Komal is a delicious experience. It has a great atmosphere which is complimented by friendly and courteous staff. As for the food ... simply put, nowhere comes remotely close to the scintillating flavour sensations. Excellent menu, full of choice for vegetarians and carnivores alike!

this has to be one of the best ever genuine chinese restaurants in Newcastle. Try the spicy crabs, the cold chicken and sesame starter, the shredded duck, the spicy lamb. Its like being in China I tell you- and I've been there many times. The owner Mark is super friendly and can advise on your taste buds. it the business.
