Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithAbsolutely beautiful… Without any doubt, if you are looking for a really nice dinner in Penrith we would definitely recommend “ Grants “ We both had the Venison loin and we’ve previously had different variations of , but this was without any doubt the best ! Normally we’d share a dessert until we saw a passing plate ! … Sometimes you just have to treat yourself’s …
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithDelicious food and terrific service. I had the fillet steak cooked to perfection and my husband had venison which he loved. Loved the trio of seafood starter too. Very friendly and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome Will definitely return
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThe food was fabulous, the new chef is very talented. The atmosphere was a little quiet, but it was a Wednesday evening in February. It always feels warm and homely. It is a little on the pricey side but the food is more than a notch above normal pub fare. We will definitely be back.
Horse and Farrier – Penrith5 star
Horse and Farrier – PenrithGreat service Good menu especially including GF options Lovely country pub atmosphere
Horse and Farrier – PenrithThe BEST roast dinner I have ever ever had. Thankyou again!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithOne of our favourite local places to eat. Sunday lunch for 4 of us - absolutely superb as always. Great atmosphere - every table was full but service was excellent. Beer was spot on and the food really was fabulous. The new chef certainly gets a big thumbs up from us.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe stopped at the Queens head Inn , Penrith, on the way back from Dundee as a last minute stop. A beautiful pub, staff were warm friendly and very welcoming and we sat near the cosy real wood fire , which was perfect for the freezing cold evening. My husband had a hearty home made steak and ale pie with seasonal veg and gravy , I had the 2 course valentine deal for £19.99 chicken wings to start and steak with a delicious peppery gravy. It was definitely a good choice and would definitely recommend this pub if you're looking for good quality home cooked delicious food with a warm welcome.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithHad a lovely meal, all 3 courses were really good , service friendly and attentive, overall experience very good, will certainly return.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithNever disappoints!.. great beer, great menu and lovely staff!!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithI have to say I was surprised at just how good the food was, most pub type restaurants are all very similar in the Lake District. What’s on offer on their menus, the quality of the food served & the price. Here the menu was a special one for Valentine’s Day but the regular menu was still available. I’d say it was maybe a little more expensive than the standard LD pub restaurants, but my god was it worth every penny. We had the special sharing rump steak dish, which was cooked to perfection as was the accompanying vegetables with a very tasty gravy. The food was divine & they obviously had a very talented chef, the service was also excellent from the team of young lady’s working that night. Also the red wine of the month was so good too. I highly recommend anyone thinking of eating here to try it, I’m sure you will not be disappointed.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithPaying a visit to the Lakes we wanted somewhere special to dine out one evening. The website and menu looked really good so a booking was made. I have to say that we fell lucky. A great place for an evening meal with superb food and excellent service. It’s unfortunate that we live so far away otherwise Grants of Castlegate, to give it its full title would be our “go to place.”
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithAnother great Sunday lunch, a must for anyone in the Keswick, Penrith area who haven’t discovered the place yet.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithExcellent meal and delightful service. Menu included tradional Lakeland options and some creative new dishes. We loved the mackerel and cashews. The venison was generous and very tender and the whole evening was very good value.
Horse and Farrier – Penrith2 courses, £31; 3 courses, £37. Available 5.30pm-6.30pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
