The pub is a wonderful historic building, 300 years old, beams and all. Lovely people, great service... good traditional food (but a bit too much of it). The only off-putting thing was the sticky surface of the pub table. The waitress did spray and wipe it when asked, but it remained unpleasantly sticky... either old concealed beer-spill or solvent-damaged varnish? Also there was a football match on TV so it would have been nicer to eat in the dining room in an atmosphere more conducive to appreciating our meal.
