service and Food excellent
The Victoria Inn – BarmouthDelicious food and lovely service with a smile, highlights being the walnut pesto, and the waitress's charming use of the word "kerfuffle" as a verb. Afterwards, I went over the road to Evans' Hardware to buy an Allen key, which ended up being a lot more fun than I expected, so I'd recommend that, too.
Green Olive – AngleseyI live locally and I've eaten twice at Y Sgwar now. Each time all the food has been splendid and the service impeccable. The menu includes some well cooked Welsh favorites such as lamb and Sunday Roast, as well as delicious asian influenced dishes for variety. I shall definitely be going there regularly. It would also be a great place for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself.
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogSpent a splendid evening with f&f here. Everybody agreed that food was excellent, nicely presented, and served by friendly staff. Beautiful colour concept, too, matching the tone of walls, tables and plates harmonically
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogMy meal at Y Sgwâr was fantsstic! The staff were very kind and attentive, the atmosphere was very contemporary (I particularly liked the smooth jazz covers of top-40 hits played at a pleasant volume), and my meal was fabulous: I had garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast to start, a rump of Welsh lamb for my main with a side of dauphinoise potatoes and broccoli, and an apple tart with a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The mushrooms were decadent, very nicely prepared and presented, and the garlic flavor was perfect. The lamb really stole the show — cooked rare at my server’s suggestion, and with the mint jus, it practically melted in my mouth! The broccoli and potatoes were also very good. I will say the dessert was pretty average, but I live by the rule that “if it isn’t bad, it’s good” — and I definitely enjoyed it! I really appreciated the service at Y Sgwâr; I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to eat or drink, and everyone was very accommodating of me and had plenty of patience while I worked myself out — though I’m sure it got easier for them after I’d downed two cocktails and loosened up a bit! I was very pleased with my experience at Y Sgwâr, and I would love to come back someday. I highly recommend it!
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogAbsolutely lovely! Dinner on Tuesday evening while working in Beddgelert. Staff are marvellous. I had 2 starters scampi amd mussels- the attention to detail and taste was delicious My husband had goats cheese and Thai curry main - he loved both. We always try and eat at Y Sgwar when we are in the area we ❤️it
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogLove Y Sgwar, the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. We’ve been coming here regularly for a couple of years now and don’t think that we’ll be stopping any time soon. I’m sure that the same goes for all of the regulars that we always see x
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogWent to the Vic on Sunday evening. Was pretty full and buzzing with people eating and drinking. We were told as soon as arrived that we had only til 7pm to book our food as the kitchen was closing at 7pm!!!! Our booking was for 6.45pm. We had to rush to look at the menu and rush to the bar to order. Why take our booking for that time. The food was really good when it came but spoilt the experience as couldn’t take in the menu properly and may have chosen differently
The Victoria Inn – BarmouthHad heard good things about Green Olive, and was interested to try it for myself. We’d booked a table for a birthday lunch and was very impressed with the food on offer and the service. Staff were very attentive, warm and welcoming. Immediately they were aware of new patrons, acknowledging them and offering realistic wait times and directing them to the sitting area for waiting. The menu was varied and offered a good selection of choices. The wait times were very reasonable, and we didn’t see any table waiting too long regardless how busy it was. The food was served beautifully and was very tasty. Everyone in our party was very impressed. Value was very reasonable especially when compared to franchises offering just shipped in ready to go meals. Would highly recommend, and will definitely visit again. Pleasant atmosphere, feels cosy and welcoming, with soft background music.
Green Olive – AngleseyWonderful meal and outstanding service always consistently good
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogEnjoyed a very nice Sunday Lunch. Food and service was excellent and staff very friendly. Would highly recommend the restaurant.
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogThe meal was excellent all round - even though it was quite busy our food arrived piping hot and in a relatively short time. The food was actually quite a bit better than I was expecting and definitely a cut above your normal pub grub. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. We each enjoyed our individual meals and didn’t feel rushed out of the door afterwards. Definitely somewhere I would recommend and visit again if we were back in the area.
The Victoria Inn – BarmouthFirst class never had a bad meal her
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogFirst visit, mostly pleased, busy place and service was good.Food was good I had pizza which was good and tasty, other had white pasta, tasty but runny sauce. Overall good and would revisit next time.
Three Tuns – Hay On WyeExcellent food. One of the best meals I have ever had. Perfect.
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogI booked online last minute- kitchen was kept open for our party. Celebrating my Dad’s 80th birthday after a trip to Snowden. From the moment of arrival I was very impressed- great atmosphere and service from all staff. The food was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly presented and very tasty. I don’t hesitate in 100% recommendation. Was a very special memorable evening. Thankyou to the team on 13/7/23
Y Sgwar – PorthmadogI mean it’s simply the best restaurant in Wales I’ve been to by some margin. It isn’t just that the food is high quality and wonderfully prepared or that the service and atmosphere is just perfect. It’s that it is remarkably consistent. Last night my wife (chicken) and daughter (lamb) actually started laughing out loud as they started their mains - it was that good! Bittersweet - cancer treatment starts Monday. But as a night out before that starts it was a fabulous family evening - THANK YOU
