Clog & Billycock, Blackburn
Recommended by Martin

Having just returned from The Clog And Billycock in Pleasington the first thing i am doing is writing this review as the experience is still fresh in my mind. The food was excellent! To start we had some deep fried cauliflower and sausages which were excellent! For our starters i had the ribs done in lovely sauce which came with some really nice black beans to garnish and my wife had the deep fried whitebait - equally delicious! Our main courses were hot pot and fish pie which were cooked perfectly and tasted great!! No room for desert as the portions were very generous. Will definitely be going again and recommending it to my friends!

I visited DUK in June and had the Bolivian pot roast lamb, with spicy apricot and rosemary sauce. It had a beautiful blend of flavours and the lamb was so tender it just feel off the bone. As a side I had Parsnip mash with sweet Caramel red onion. The mash was big enough to share so do not be deceived by the generalisations made to tapas. Three tapas meals are plenty and I have a big appetite. The mixture of flavours from the different dishes was great to excite the palette and spring variety into the meal. The food is very reasonably priced and freshly cooked too. Highly recommended but reservations needed for a Saturday night. The sister wine bar Pond is great to visit to let your food settle. The selection of wines is great with a relaxed atmosphere.

Duk, Preston
Recommended by The Birchs

We went to the Duk restaurant as a last minute dinner reservation for me and my family. I have always wanted to try tapas but never had the opportunity until now, The decor was very traditional and the staff were very helpful they explained all about the menu and even suggested what to eat as there was such a wide variety on offer. The food was fantastic, full of flavour and taste and even my fussy 7 year old enjoyed it which is a first believe me. The portion size was just right all i would say is don't over order extras i.e. potatoes, mushrooms because you get loads and you won't want to leave anything. The price was moderate but well worth it. We will definitely recommend it to all our friends and well absolutely be paying them a visit soon. To some duk up a cosy little restaurant but with a big heart and passion for food A+++++ for all .

Mitton Hall Country House Hotel, Clitheroe
Recommended by New Jersey Girl

The best Martini the other side of the Atlantic!, After a five minute discussion about the merits of Ian Flemming and the Italian's bringing vermouth to the States our fast talking barman made my husband his perfect martini, and a pussyfoot for myself. Dinner to die for, service with a smile, and free jokes! Forget formality and just enjoy! (special thanks to Andy and Heather) Absolutely loved it!

Mitton Hall Country House Hotel, Clitheroe
Recommended by Jean

Mitton Hall has everything, visiting on Saturday after a friend suggested the place, with a group of friends we were astounded at the transformation. Welcomed at the front door, we were offered "Cheeky little cocktails" and "Big Fat Gin's" by our enthusiastic bottle throwing barman (our expectant friend was allowed a mineral water!) and our quiet waitress was wonderful and the whole atmosphere had a certain quality that gave the impression we were at a friend's house for dinner. The food in the Brasserie was of a standard far above expectations, and the smiling service continued. Whether it be the decor, the food or indeed the staff, visit Mitton soon. You will not be disappointed.

La Veranda, Rawtenstall
Recommended by Rob

The restaurant has nice decor and spacious so you don't feel crowded in by people. Staff were excellent, very attentive, friendly and polite - excellent service. A really good menu, seems these days I struggle to choose even a starter as restaurants over complicate, here had no such problem, a good selection of Italian dishes and to a very high standard. Also good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Is in a nice location, had a window table with a view of the hills, also away from the high st so parking was easy. A good dining experience and my new date who accompanied was impressed with my choice. Definitely recommend. Bob P August 2008

Duk, Preston

visited duk on Wednesday we had a fabulous night, great choice on the menu and everything was served efficiently and tasted delicious, the attention to detail is superb and we would definitely recommend to every one, value for money was also good and the price of drinks very reasonable, we ordered 3 dishes each expecting them to be small, like most tapas places, but no they were really filling and the flavours gorgeous, we shall be visiting again soon, if we can get a table it seems they are booked up well in advance which speaks for itself
