We had 2 courses and 1/2pt Shed Head inclusive in our price, the service and food as always was excellent, if you live in the area or are visiting then I can’t recommend this restaurant enough as somewhere to enjoy your lunch or evening meal

Sunday lunch itself was really lovely, plenty of meat, a good selection of veggies, a little more gravy wouldn’t have gone a miss and a home made Yorkshire pudding would have been nice however we should have stopped there. We chose a pudding each and they were both very much a let down. A slice of chocolate cake arrived dry, with no ice cream or cream to make it less so. Alongside this an apricot crumble arrived which appeared to be tinned apricots in syrup covered with a slightly burnt crumble topping. This was supposed to come with cream but arrived with a very thick tasteless custard. Very disappointing for the price paid. Would we return? Yes but would give any puddings a definite miss in the future.

Afternoon Tea with Prosecco. A first time visit to Mere Court and what a delight it was! A lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes and super warm scones with clotted cream and jam plus of course coffee or tea and accompanied with a refreshing glass of prosecco. A warm welcome on arrival and super attentive, friendly yet professional service by our waitresses. All in all, an excellent afternoon the only improvement would have been better weather which would have allowed us to stroll in the extensive, beautiful grounds but we will save that for our next visit. Thank you Mere Court. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend the crab and prawn linguine it was delicious. My friends had the fish and chip dinner ,the fish was succulent with not too much batter and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing too much trouble , great service by the young gentleman. Well done will certainly invite my friends again . Thank you

Excellent meal for myself however the husband did not enjoy his as he’s a plain Jane there wasn’t much choice on the menu for him he was hope for the chicken pie however noticed it had been taken of the menu

As always a lovely experience. Staff and service wonderful. Andrew and Phil perfect mine hosts. Such a quirky,different setting. Reasonably priced and excellent food - great chef. We will always return.

Moved to the area from the Midlands in January and this our local pub. Staff are friendly and the food is great. Would highly recommend the Sunday roast

There was 6 of us who came to celebrate my 40th birthday . We enjoyed every bit of it from the hospitality, the food, drinks . The atmosphere was so friendly and our waiter sat us in a nice corner which was really lovely . It was such a lovely night and would definitely come again

Lovely food but poor service. Was not asked if further drinks were wanted and once plates were taken we were just left. Not asked if we wanted to order desert or required the bill.

Went to The Carriers Inn on May Bank holiday. Booked a table to be on the safe side and it was quite busy, we were advised of a 30 min wait but there wasn't a delay in ordering or waiting for food. Excellent food, good sized quantities and a fairly varied menu. Would definitely go back.

My partner and I dined in the restaurant for stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and during that time had 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts. All meals were lovely and the cleanliness standards were excellent. Breakfast selection was good and for dinner we had a variety of dishes including gravlax, goats cheese, chicken liver parfait, steak, chicken breast, pork fillet and sea bass. The hotel grounds were very nice and we both felt relaxed and happy during our stay. While we (and by 'we' I mean 'I') had some minor quibbles (I have worked in hospitality for approx 20 years), these were very minor and barely affected our stay at all. We will certainly be returning in the future.

We called in here after visiting Castaway Play. The food looked good online and it seemed to have a country pub look and feel to it. Our initial reactions were that the service was awful. Our waitress was unpleasant and never came back to take our order (we had to go and ask to order). They slightly improved but we felt like everything was too much trouble. Oh the flip side, the food and drink were extremely good. We had the pie of the day. Really good portion sizes and it tasted truly home cooked. I tried some of our sons pizza, that was also really good. Dough tasted home made along with the sauce. Overall we would go back. I think the service was a blip. And the food was worth it.

We absolutely love this hidden gem. The food is exceptional, focused on the very best ingredients and the quality is obvious. The family who own and run this restaurant are just delightful! Best welcome and service we have ever had. Well worth a visit… you will definitely go back.
