I had a meal with my wife and another couple on the evening of Saturday 24th October and I'm afraid to say it was a hugely disappointing experience. Our last visit was prior to the Mooney's acquisition of the restaurant. My wife and I both had the Black pudding starter, which (according to the menu would be accompanied by home-made curried apple chutney. The black puddings were tasteless, the potato was also tasteless and cold and the apple sauce was clearly out of a jar with not the merest hint of curry or chutney. For main course I had Sea Bream, which arrived (a single, small fillet) with four 'dabs' of what was supposed to be a type of ratatouille - pathetic at £13.95! After the meal we asked which malt whiskies were available. There was Glenmorangie and Glenfroaig - the waitress also told us that they had Grants and Bells - so clearly she didn't understand what a 'malt whisky' was. We declined and asked for Port instead. The waitress returned to advise that they didn't have any. I raised my dissatisfactions, privately and discretely with the manager - Stuart. He advised that there was no demand for malts or port? When we received the bill (which was in excess of £160 for the 4 of us) he had taken a total of £7.50 from it. I wouldn't recommend the Duke of Portland to anybody.

Yet again, another absolutely fantastic meal! The Hatton Arms is a lovely pub/restaurant with a friendly and professional service. Great selection of both food and wine - so good, we went back again the next night with friends. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone.

The chef has left this restaurant and can't you tell. David Mooney who has built a great reputation for this restaurant is no longer behind the stove at the Belle Epoque and I think you can tell both in the quality of the food and in the attitude of the staff. Not a good dining experience.

Once a month I and a party of 7 friends visit different Indian Restaurants near and far but we always judge them against the Bombay which for us is the very best around. My personal likes are the hot dishes in particular their excellent Vindaloo.

The food is excellent at Chopstix - freshly cooked, and you don't get that horrible morning after MSG taste in your mouth! However, expect to pay more than average (which is fair given the quality of the food) and beware - the waiters will ply you with alcohol!!

Minshull's offer a range of traditional home-cooked food in a nice cosy environment at a very reasonable price. Different from the usual Garden Centre cafe as it is waitress service and the girls were very polite & friendly. Try their Welsh Rarebit on Doorstep toast it's delicious followed by one of the yummy homemade scones and a cappuccino.

Lovely lovely lovely! Went here in August and it was gorgeous! Really nice atmosphere, relaxed and not formal (tho it was bank holiday Monday at around 5pm but it was busy). Friendly staff all of which were italian (sounds odd but i have been to some "italians" where the staff including the chefs are English, so hence they cant cook "real" italian food)! Couldn't fault anything, there was 7 of us and everything was delicious! Have returned since and have recommended to friends who were all equally impressed!

I had not been for a while, but last Friday had the best Chinese in ages. Excellent service, food was so tasty but couldn't eat it all so took a doggy bag home which microwaved beautifully Would thoroughly recommend, although a little price. Good for once in a while or a treat. House red wine also excellent.

How nice to see this lovely pub sympathetically refurbished after years in the doldrums. The new tenants have created a warm and friendly atmosphere, with the promise of open fires in the winter. The Robinson's beer is well kept and there's a decent, although short, wine list. But I suspect it will be the food that makes the Dun Cow's reputation. It is simply exquisite - none better in the whole of Cheshire! I would recommend you visit and see for yourselves.

Perfection is possible! Visited last Saturday evening and it was just lovely. The food was delicious, the ambience fantastic and the decor - I want to copy for home! The food melts in your mouth, the waitresses were there when you needed them and not when you didn't! We went on a Saturday , £29.95 for three courses - worth the money. They have a special on Sunday lunch as well which looks extremely good value. I imagine you would have to book well in advance for that though. Well worth a trip - you won't be disappointed.

We booked a table for about 8.30 on a Friday night, the place has a lively atmosphere but the piped music was rather too loud, it was necessary to shout in order to converse. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food was of good quality. I went for the crispy duck legs and my wife had some scallops. The portion sizes for the small mains were far too small. The dish said 'scallops', there were two! Call me picky if you like but that is a mean serving. I had a Peroni beer to drink and was charged nearly £6, thats a mark up of more than 3 which is greedy on the part of the owners. The restaurant has a chain feel even though it is independent. In summary it is quite nice but significantly overpriced. I would not hurry back

Fabulous little restaurant offering a good selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian food. The service was first class, the decor welcoming, the atmosphere very relaxed and the food absolutely superb. Of all the restaurants we had tried this beats them all for freshly cooked, beautifully presented and fantastic blend of delicate flavours. A little gem right on our doorstep. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Visited the Hinds Head today with a friend for lunch as the pub always looks great from the outside. You had to search for a menu & got the feeling that by ordering food you would be putting them to too much trouble. Not the warmest of welcomes I've experienced unfortunately & only one bar staff although it was a Mon lunchtime. Food bland & not that cheap either, will drive by next time.

My partner and I travelled by train from Manchester to have lunch on 11/09/2009. The pub was clean, cosy and nicely set out. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. We ordered from the 2 course Market fresh menu. My partner ordered the Aberdeen Angus steak burger which he said "was really nice and meaty" the accompanying salsa was lovely as I couldn't resist a taste. I ordered the fish cakes, with Cheshire potatoes and salad. Very fresh and tasty and a nice change from the usual "chips with everything" For dessert I tucked into the apple and plum lattice ordered with lovely ice-cream whilst my partner satisfied his sweet tooth with the strawberries, meringue and cream. He washed this down with a pint of Dizzy Blonde and Tit for Tat (Robinson's), which he says were equally good. Satisfied we headed for the train home. Definitely worth a try!
