Sage and Vine – CarlisleBooked for Saturday a week before Christmas. No decorations in the dining room..too brightly lit. Ordered food and lager (wine priced over the top). Service awful...arrived around 3/4 to an hour later. To be fair our table all agreed the food was lovely but service let it down. We had a taxi booked for much later but brought it forward and returned to our holiday home.
Pig and Whistle – CartmelWe visited for an evening meal this week, the food was absolutely gorgeous. A great selection of Ale and larger also. When we are next in Keswick, this will be the first place we visit for food!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAbsolutely flawless visit! The food is the best we have had in the local area - quality, fresh ingredients, cooked beautifully and a fantastic selection. The wine choices were great, and the service was impeccable. All of the staff were polite, friendly and unobtrusive, but most of all very knowledgeable and informative. I don't think we've ever experienced such great service in Carlisle. We will be back, without hesitation, and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleA pleasant experience. Good drinks menu.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWhat an amazing meal we’ve just had at Harry’s at Yew Tree Barn. Scott was on top form once again with a mouthwatering turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The food was all exceptional and not a crumb was left! There was only one issue… how on earth do I follow that when making Christmas dinner for the family?! Seriously, hats off to the team… service was brilliant, food unbeatable and a great atmosphere too. Well done team.
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsDelicious food, service and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsWent for a meal on Sunday tea time in December. My partner had the burger which he said was superb and I had the traditional christmas turkey roast dinner. It was perfect, a huge plateful with all the trimmings and a Yorkshire pudding. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was great too. We’ve eaten here a few times and love it. It’s our no.1 choice for eating out.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeExcellent Sunday lunch as usual!

Pheasant Inn – KeswickHad a fantastic 3 course meal last Friday at the supper club. The greeting when we arrived was friendly and professional. The atmosphere and low sounding music was perfect. Food was imaginative, delicious, hot and well presented. Well done team Harry. We will be back soon. Karen, Neil & Julia
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsBeautiful pub, beautiful food and lovely staff
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAnother excellent meal at the Pheasant, Keswick last night. We eat there each time we visit Keswick which is usually every 4-6 weeks. The food is always delicious, piping hot and generous in quantity. Dan and his team work hard to deliver quality home cooked food with a friendly service and a smile. Our favourites are the Venison Bourguignon, Barbery Duck breast, pan seared pheasant and the steaks are excellent ! Real vegetables and proper chips or dauphinoise potatoes. Highly recommend!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickGreat service from our local, cosy pub. A lovely Xmas dinner special after a night running on the fells
