Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were visiting the Lake District for a few days and staying in Penrith. We went here for dinner on our second night and we was not disappointed. It was a Sunday evening so wasn’t very busy but we still got a warm welcome from the staff and owner. I asked the waitress for recommendations as I couldn’t choose from all the great options. She recommended the soufflé for starter and lamb for main and that is what I went with. My husband had the fish starter and the duck for main. The food was absolutely amazing and the portions were really good too. We also got some lovely bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start. I had the rhubarb and ginger crumble for dessert. Amazing! The waitress came over and chatted with us quite a bit asking where we had visited and where we had eaten etc. she gave us some ideas for where to go. It was a lovely evening and would highly recommend.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithI have never posted a review before but felt compelled to do so this time. I had a meal at the Pheasant Inn last Saturday with my wife and cousin. While my meal was ok the other 2 meals were appalling. Two of us had an ok starter but the main course did not arrive until about one and a half hours after we sat down, this being after 2 reminders to waiters and after other customers who arrived after us were served. The meals looked as if they may have been fogotten about and kept warm. The vegetables on my wife's plate were burnt, for which we had a £10 refund, while the steak my cousin had was thin dry and tasteless. We had had 3 other meals in the Lake District last week 2 of which were very good and one excellent. For about £140 including drinks I think the food and service were very poor and I wouldn't eat at the Pheasant Inn again even if it was free. The beer however was very good.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe really enjoyed our time at The Pheasant yesterday. There was a really good atmosphere - it's clearly popular as it was full. The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door and service was seamless. The food was really very good and there was a really good choice on the menu. If we return to the area in the future, we would definitely eat there again.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFriendly welcome and delicious food. Just what we were looking for.

Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithA very warm welcome was followed by excellent service, as always. A full menu encompasses all tastes, with a large selection of drinks available as well. Very good value with large plates full to the brim. Very attentive and friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. Even when very busy you are well looked after. Overall a great restaurant with good food, drink and a brilliant atmosphere.
Adriano’s Italian Restaurant – CarlisleWhat a hidden gem! Took my mum, niece and nephew for lunch and it was an absolute treat. Food was fab, portions were huge, we drank soft drinks from wine glasses to feel fancy and the staff were exceptional. We will be back!
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleFive of us visited on 17th April and enjoyed lovely food and drinks and were served by amazing staff. A little bit draughty as we were sitting next to the door. But everything else was 5*
