Lovely atmosphere Fabulous food Amazing staff who always go the extra mile which is very rare these days. We go every 8wks and I've never had a bad meal/experience.

Sunday lunch is the best out there and the service outstanding.

I had a fantastic meal! The steak was absolutely perfect—cooked just the way I like it, full of flavour, and incredibly tender. The cocktail menu was impressive, with a great variety to choose from, and I thoroughly enjoyed trying a few. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great dining experience—I’ll definitely be back!

Hi, I have a small chauffeuring company based locally and on the recommendation of a number of my clients I booked a table , well in advance, as a post race-day at Haydock finale. The day at Haydock was very successful , well sustained by a champagne breakfast at the Mercure Hotel. So , to Bacchus . Cordial is an old fashioned word but it beautifully sums up the atmosphere here from the second you come through the door . The staff are relaxed and confident . We ordered the food , a bottle of Champagne and a bottle d St Emilion, lovely glasses , red wine decanted, gorgeous. My main course of Linguine was the best pasta I've had outside Italy !! My friend's steak , similarly, was sumptuous. Both had ginger sponge pudding for deserts ; delicious! In all, a lovely dining experience and great value . Tim Sumner .

Absolute first class food presented by wonderful staff. Would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. We where able to sit and decide what we wanted to eat sitting in a comfortable seating area while having a lovely drink. We be revisiting again.

Went for valentines was told table service but had to keep going bar to order drinks and food, waited a hour for starter which was described toasted bread but came freezing cold and not toasted ,butter was solid then had to wait another hour for mains which came was nice but had to ask for the rest of food and when came the onion rings were really greasy that’s all I could taste was grease very under staffed and disappointing service, was very cold inside was day by the fire which hadn’t been lit and just had the fan blowing on us and the atmosphere was not very romantic people rowdy and swearing not very good for a valentines night

We had such a lovely meal for Valentine’s Day and it was perfect from start to finish. The steak was cooked to perfection and the “cheese pan” started was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend!

Lovely atmosphere and great service from all the staff. We had simple but tasty starters followed by pasta dishes packed with flavour. First time I’ve been there in years but will definitely return.

This was our second visit. Very disappointed to find there was a set menu - not mentioned at booking. Main course selection was very limited. Prices were much higher than those on the normal menu - felt like a rip off. Wine selection had no Australian offerings which was disappointing. Will not be back soon - if ever.

Once again great atmosphere,welcoming hosts,service impeccable, food superb.

Very nice. My tagine tart was tangy and spicy, potatoes lovely and salad fresh. My wife loved her steak. So pretty impressive

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday after celebrating her joyous wedding at the Mere Court 2 years ago. As then, the staff were courteous and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food was truly lovely, as it was at the wedding celebrations. Well done to all the staff at the Mere Court, we will definitely be returning.

This is my 3rd visit for afternoon tea but in a different room this time, usually we wait for someone to take us to are seats, but this time we were told to go to the bar and turn right, and there we stood waiting for somebody to appear and people were in there having afternoon tea, then a man came asked if we are being helped I said no, he pointed to a table and asked if we wanted tea or coffee, tea was brought to the table and then our afternoon tea and at no time did anyone ask if we have any allergies which I have a nut allergy, and normally my cakes are on a separate plate we managed to get a young man who was cleaning up to ask for more tea, I felt like we where the last ones in and and just left to get on with it, none of the cakes were eaten and put in a tub to take home and I gave them to someone else to eat, who said that the almond/bakewell was soggy and the macaroons were very soft , we even had to go looking for someone for the bill. As this was a valentine's weekend very disappointed.

We came here for food on valentines night. Service was brilliant and food was delicious. The manager was lovely and friendly and staff attentive. Definitely recommend!

Very busy last Thursday but no excuse for poor service. Arrived at 13.00 and ordered our main meals (gammon steak) at 13.15 did not arrived until 13.45 despite a couple of reminders. Unfortunately despite booking got the table nearest the door and in a freezing draught. Worse still elderly 2 men on a table virtually touching ours coughing away to the point when we both felt really annoyed .

We very much enjoyed our recent meal here. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was excellent and there is always a pleasant atmosphere. Pricing is reasonable for the quality of experience.
