This is a fine old pub with a friendly atmosphere and good service. We enjoyed an excellent meal there for our pre-Christmas get-together - they have a good chef!

We had an excellent meal last night at the Horse and Farrier in Dacre to celebrate my birthday. We were looked after by Charlotte and Emma who were attentive and friendly. We never eat anywhere else now on our visits to Wayermillock.

A return visit to Penrith last week and we again picked Grant's for our evening meal. Lovely food on a small and select menu. We weren't disappointed in our choices and the wines were also exceptionally good. The restaurant is really worth stopping at if you're passing through the area.

Main courses of Turkey & Belly Pork were excellent including the vegetables, despite Belly Pork not being my preferred meat. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the turkey. My desert (Tira Misu) I was not impressed with. It bore more of a resemblance to a choux pastry chocolate eclair than Tira Misu. Service as always was excellent

Lovely venison pie (great pastry) and well cooked veg, delicious Xmas pud too. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Good value. Little cold though as we were by the window.

What a fantastic little pub. We loved our early evening meal here on Saturday evening. The atmosphere, decor and service was absolutely wonderful. All the dishes were lovely and the menu was seasonal and varied.

We were a large family group including one child and we couldn’t have had a better evening!! The food was wonderful, so tasty and served so quickly. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was really relaxing and laid back. We all enjoyed our meal( including our vegan nephew) and would thoroughly recommend a visit!! In fact, we hope to return when we’re next in Penrith.

Lovely cosy pub atmosphere, with great views. Food of high quality and generous servings. Food came promptly. We were very happy and overall it was great value and very enjoyable.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch. We all said we hadn't had a better one anywhere. The team at the H&F give an excellent service all round. I am also impressed with the establishments ethos, of supporting the local Cumbrian economy.

Ten of us went for an early Christmas meal last week at H&F. Everything was excellent, the service, the food, the drink selection. I had a Christmas Dinner as I always do when I go out at Christmas and this was the best I've had. We had a veggie in the group and she reported that her suet pudding was the best vegetarian Christmas dinner she has had too! We even got a warm home made mince pie at the end which was delicious. Would highly recommend. 10/10

The Horse and Farrier was recommended to us by the receptionist at The Quiet Site, when asked for the best place locally to get Sunday roast. It did not disappoint, the food was delicious, and excellent value. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fabulous meal.
