The quality of the food is outstanding. Clearly a chef who is imaginative and understands how to blend flavours into delicious dishes along with visually stunning presentation. Staff are friendly and welcoming and on a summer’s evening, the view from the beer garden was the icing on the cake.

4 adults. We had a table booked. There was a large Alzheimer’s group in. We were warned there might be a delay. One hour before we got our starters. This was not a problem as we weren’t in a hurry. Starters were poor presented badly. All four mains were very poor and was badly presented pub grub. My son said it was the worst meal he’d ever had.

Had a superb meal at Grants. We couldn’t fault anything. The staff are fantastic, really attentive without being overbearing. Great menu choice with enough in it to cater for everyone’s taste. I would recommend this place to anyone local and also visitors to the area.

An enjoyable meal at the end of our holiday. Friendly service. Menu was interesting and generally very good. We just felt the main meal was a little bit too complicated (one of the fish specials) sometimes less , in variety of tastes, can be more. However would happily return.

Oh dear. I am so sorry to do this but the evening we went was awful. Let's be clear, the young girl who served us was lovely and personable. It would seem that, sadly, there had been a funeral party previously and so we were waiting for some time before anyone acknowledged us when we arrived. We both ordered the curry and, sorry to say, it's the worst I have ever had - so thin and watery, it was like soup. My partner then ordered another tonic water, which never materialised. We didn't say anything at the time as we discovered the young girl was on her own and did her best to be friendly. Really sorry as we do like to support small local businesses, but based on our visit, sadly cannot recommend

Lovely lunch, good portions and friendly and efficient service.

Despite pre booking our food several days in advance, we were told when pudding was being served that they were out of custard. Can’t understand this if we had pre booked. The decor was very tired. Food was ok. I wouldn’t return.

Excellent food, our table of four couldn’t fault a single item. We received pleasant service also from all waiters staff who seemed happy to be there. We would recommend for anyone in the area and will return next year when we revisit the lakes!

Delicious food, beautifully cooked and well presented by friendly and attentive staff. Over 2 visits, our party sampled meat, fish and vegetarian options for starters and mains and can recommend them all. Rhubarb crumble tart with ginger ice cream is a perfect pud. We'll be back!

Excellent meal with lovely friendly service. The steak and seabass were superb and good wines.

Spot on every time. Consistently perfect. Roast beef perfectly cooked, just that nice pinkness in the middle. Always a good selection of ales and lovely staff with a great view across the fells. If you have room don’t miss the puddings.

Two excellent meals on consecutive nights. The soufflé was outstanding and the specials on both nights were inventive and well executed. Staff were super, friendly and helpful. The chef is very talented.

Excellent meal with attentive service. Food superbly cooked. Had steak and chicken both beautifully presented. Quite expensive but worth it!

The food was very tasteful and ‘just right’. All of the staff were brilliant. A pity we don’t live in this area and can be frequent customers.
