Fantastic as ever. Remains one of our family's favourite places to eat in the county. Perfect for an event or occasional treat. The food is consistently superb & menu changes keep us coming back. Service always lovely too. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had a really delicious meal at H&F, the food and drink was delicious. We had an excellent cheese souflee to start. Then perfect pub fish and chips with home made mushy peas and of course when in the lakes STP to finish. Service was excellent and the pubs atmosphere is perfect 5*

My partner and I ate at Grants’ on 30 August. The staff were very attentive and helpful. We both had the sea trout, which was delicious. If we had a small criticism, we don’t like having to pay extra for vegetables that we feel should be included in the price of the meal. To be fair, a lot of restaurants do this and it takes the shine off the dining experience for us. However, we would still recommend Grants’ because of the food quality.

Delightful dining. Beautifully well balanced flavours in a well put together menu. Pleasant surroundings where one could hold a conversation without overly loud music. Which is nice for a change. Attentive staff who didn't interrupt the dining experience. I would highly recommend Grants of Castlegate for quality food served well. Priced fairly for the quality of ingredients and the chefs obvious skills at combining them.

We visited for my hubbys burthday, he really enjoyed your good selection of ales, especially the stout. Good was great as usual with prompt service.

We had an excellent pre theatre meal at Grants. The food was delicious with a good choice on the pre theatre menu. The service was extremely good with the waiting staff ensuring we were happy but not constantly asking!! I have only given 4 for atmosphere as the restaurant was very quiet, presumably because it was early evening.

Lovely birthday meal. Excellent service. The cheese souffle was outstanding and in fact it is so substantial that next time I will have it with the bread and green salad instead of a main course (and then there will be room for dessert!). Kitchen able to accommodate slight ingredient variation on a main course with absolutely zero fuss which was appreciated. This pub does very very good food and so it's a bit pricier than other places but you're getting amazing quality dishes cooked from scratch which is worth paying for. Already planning return visit!

Our third visit to the restaurant, staff very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and we enjoyed it very much. Would definitely recommend it.

Regularly book in for dinner and we always have a great meal. Staff are attentive and efficient and don’t seem to move on! A good sign! The food is varied and seasonal. It is a pub setting with good atmosphere. We bring friends and are never disappointed. Lunch time good too. Parking can be tricky when it is busy

First time at Grants last night. They did a 2 or 3 course early evening (pre-theatre) menu which was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. We will definitely go again before attending Penrith players. Perfect evening. So glad we have found this little gem.

This is a little gem. Great service from the staff, incredible food and very resonable prices. We'll be going back next time we're in the Lake District.

Booking for 12 people, very welcoming, Service and food were excellent, waiting-staff very attentive. We were running late due to a delay to the start of our golf competition. Very flexible

We stayed in Penrith for one night on our way to Scotland and found this amazing restaurant. The menu was enticing and the food was incredible. We received a lovely warm welcome and loved the whole experience. So sad that we live in Hampshire and not closer! I can highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again on our next trip to Penrith.

Relaxing atmosphere, great menu, tasty food, good ales on tap, good service. Highly recommended
