Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithI visited for dinner last Wednesday with my husband, for a Birthday treat. We had eaten there before, and knew we would be well looked after. We were very pleased with both the delicious food and the friendly service. The menu has unusual and interesting dishes, not just your usual Pub Grub! The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful, and let me borrow a cushion when I found the wooden chairs a bit hard! We don't live far away, and we will certainly be back for more.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithI have never had such a dreadful meal and the real ale was off. I have never left a review but this was so bad I need to tell everyone NOT to go. It is the worst £65 I have ever spent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithReally nice
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithReturned to Grants. Our visit started with a very warm welcome. The food was, as it always is absolutely beautiful. The chicken fillet starter was amazing. Cant wait to return.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithLovely pub, smashing range of beers and very friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent, freshly made, tasty and good helpings. Everyone in our party cleaned their plates.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithFantastic food, service, wine and chat
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithAn excellent Sunday lunch, couldn't fault it. Good friendly service as well. Will definitely go back next time we're in the area.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe always eat here at least twice when we holiday in the area. The food is always of a high standard and delicious. The online booking system is simple to use. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the pub has a great atmosphere nestled in the village of Dacre. A definite choice if you are in the area.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithHas a lovely anniversary meal at Grants. My cheese soufflé starter was amazing and my wife’s sea bass with ravioli, she said was one of the best meals she has eaten.Lovely ambience and great service
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithSuch a good place ! We were in a terrible hurry - called ahead and they had 3 delicious steaks waiting for us - yum yum yum highly recommend
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThe quality of the food is outstanding. Clearly a chef who is imaginative and understands how to blend flavours into delicious dishes along with visually stunning presentation. Staff are friendly and welcoming and on a summer’s evening, the view from the beer garden was the icing on the cake.
Horse and Farrier – Penrith4 adults. We had a table booked. There was a large Alzheimer’s group in. We were warned there might be a delay. One hour before we got our starters. This was not a problem as we weren’t in a hurry. Starters were poor presented badly. All four mains were very poor and was badly presented pub grub. My son said it was the worst meal he’d ever had.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithHad a superb meal at Grants. We couldn’t fault anything. The staff are fantastic, really attentive without being overbearing. Great menu choice with enough in it to cater for everyone’s taste. I would recommend this place to anyone local and also visitors to the area.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithAn enjoyable meal at the end of our holiday. Friendly service. Menu was interesting and generally very good. We just felt the main meal was a little bit too complicated (one of the fish specials) sometimes less , in variety of tastes, can be more. However would happily return.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithDas Restaurant ist hervorragend mit tollem Essen und liebenswertem Personal,!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithOh dear. I am so sorry to do this but the evening we went was awful. Let's be clear, the young girl who served us was lovely and personable. It would seem that, sadly, there had been a funeral party previously and so we were waiting for some time before anyone acknowledged us when we arrived. We both ordered the curry and, sorry to say, it's the worst I have ever had - so thin and watery, it was like soup. My partner then ordered another tonic water, which never materialised. We didn't say anything at the time as we discovered the young girl was on her own and did her best to be friendly. Really sorry as we do like to support small local businesses, but based on our visit, sadly cannot recommend
