Lovely meal as usual been to the Pheasant several times and the the service and food is always top draw.

Had an amazing meal here...Stopped in a highly rated hotel for a few nights in Grasmere and decided to try somewhere different to eat on our last night, wish we had found it sooner!! The whole experience was brilliant and far superior to the food in our 5 star hotel. Will definitely be returning and more than happy to give this 5 stars.

An excellent afternoon tea, thoroughly enjoyed by my wife and I. Lovely savouries and delightful cakes, scones and lots of jam and crram. All served by great staff in a wonderful setting. Highly recommended.

The 4 girls that were working when we visited on Monday 11th June were literally running everywhere to try and keep up with the orders! They were amazing under very stressful circumstances. There were irate customers complaining about not being able to order food and in all honesty I think the management need to take a long hard look at themselves rather than leave the youngsters to try and front the complaints. There didn’t seem to be any senior management around! The food was excellent when it arrived, but the young staff deserve better support!

Food good. Service poor. Three overworked servers struggled to cope with the numbers of diners. Long waits at every stage of the meal Pity - as the food was of good standard and well presented.

Dinner last night and cream tea this afternoon were spectacular, as was the personalized service and gorgeous accommodation. We count ourselves beyond fortunate to have experienced Augill Castle.

What a fabulous Afternoon Tea experience we had at this delightful off-the-beaten track Castle. We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and plentiful, a lovely quirky change from traditional finger sandwiches, and the staff very attentive. We sat in the grounds in the sunshine and it was blissful. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back.

Me and a friend visited La Mezzaluna on 8th July 2022. We were staying in Carlisle the night before a bike ride from Bowness on Solway to Sunderland in a day. We needed a good hearty meal and the chance to relax before a huge event. We got that and MORE! The food was delicious, I had bread and olives followed by Fusili Campagnola (there is a cycling reference) my friend had Funghi Ripieni followed by Pollo Mezzaluna. The welcome was really warm, but not overpowering. The staff were brilliant, it was a really relaxing evening, they explained everything we needed to know. I had a bottle of red that really complemented the beef and my pal had a pint and a half of Perroni. If you are visiting Carlisle I can readily recommend this lovely little restaurant. There was absolutely no downside.

We had an lovely evening here and enjoyed our food, drink and the relaxing atmosphere. Our second time here, we have been waiting to return post covid, and will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Great service too.

Finger prints on all the glasses, wine glasses looked like they'd been on 100s of dishwasher cycles... cloudy and again, full of finger prints. The food... order steak medium, came like shoe leather, chips were dry but the pepper sauce was good and peppery. My partner ordered the belly Pork which was AMAZING. such potential let down buy detail

I recently had Sunday Lunch here and i must say it was very good and the desert was excellent as were the staff

I’ve eaten at the Wheatsheaf three times now and on each occasion have been impressed by the standard of the food - a cut about pub food, for sure. The menu is well thought out, a good range of dishes (I don’t eat meat but feel well catered for) which are well cooked and nicely presented. The staff are friendly, confident and attentive. I’ll be back.
