Fantastic meal in a real cosy pub with great staff

My partner and I visited on 28th January 2026 and had a most enjoyable evening. Both the food and service were excellent, definitely worth dining here.

Beautiful food, staff couldn't have been any better and great value too

Booked for a party of 15 and we were seated on 2 separate lots of tables, which wasn't ideal, as you expect to be seated all together. If I booked for a large party again, I would request to be seated together.

Pre covid dined here 3 or 4 times a month. They then had issues and stopped going. Seen recent positive reviews and decided to book an evening meal. Could not fault food or service. Good value. Will book again.

We had Sunday lunch here, service was good, food was tasty and cooked freshly.

Really friendly staff and lovely food. The open fire in the bar was excellent after a cold walk. We had the Scampi and the Fish pie.

Excellent food with very friendly staff. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere where customers are put at their ease.

Good to find a chef who is willing to cook a steak as I like it _ not red in the middle. So many chefs refuse to do so, and do not get return visits.

We had a really enjoyable meal. The staff were very friendly making a really lovely atmosphere. Starters, mains and dessert were all excellent. Definitely a place to visit when in Grasmere.

Can’t fault anything . The menu was extensive , the food was plentiful & delicious . Great service from all the team . This is now on my list of favourite places to eat in Carlisle . We will definitely be back . I would highly recommend .

Our go to Italian in Carlisle. Fabulous food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend enough.
