Great spot and good food. Very friendly service too. My usual pit stop in Bowness!

Mio Mondo @ The Coffee Bean – WindermereMy son and I had a lovely meal in the Kings Head Broughton. It has new management with a wealth of experience. good luck to them
Old Kings Head – Broughton-in-FurnessAte here the other night on my birthday with my Mother, Father and Boyfriend. None of us had eaten here before but my Mother wanted to for a while after hearing good things and we were not disappointed! Walking in, the restaurant is small but cosy and quirky decor, the staff were incredibly welcoming and made effort to talk and joke with us whilst waiting for our food. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We all decided to get different starters and mains to try each others, and we could not decide what was the best! All the meat was cooked to perfection and all the different flavours in our food were incredible. Even the dessert (there's always room) was fantastic, we will definitely be going again when we are next in the Lake District and spreading the word of this amazing little restaurant!
Jumble Room – GrasmereBest eatery in Coniston. Great food, very friendly staff, unusually good parking for the village and gorgeous fell views!
Herdwicks Cafe – ConistonGorgeous old pub with stunning views over to Blencathra and the fells beyond. My lunch was lovely and portions huge. its near Penrith and on the way to Keswick and very near the M6 motorway so in a great spot!
The Clickham Inn – PenrithLovely tasty filling lunch in front of the fire at the Brackenrigg Inn. Posh homemade (including the bread) fish finger sandwich with a side salad and chips. Great views out over Ullswater and the snow peaked mountains behind. Will stay next time and try the beers from their own brewery!
Brackenrigg Inn – PenrithGreat little cafe in Bowness with a view down the main road. Had a lovely tasty lunch served by friendly staff. I sat outside in the winter sun with my dog. Perfect.
Mio Mondo @ The Coffee Bean – WindermereFirst class 3 course meal at Ravenstone Manor last week. Prawn Tempura, perfectly cooked fillet steak and lemon tart. The steak was the best I've had in a long long time, well charred on the outside but v rare and tender inside. The matching wine was very pleasant too. The hotel is in a great location by Keswick, Bassenthwaite and Cockermouth. Great views of the snow peaked fells from my bedroom window!
Ravenstone Manor – KeswickFresh, delicious ,great menu choices. Can’t recommend this too highly, try it soon, you will be VERY satisfied.
Jays Indian Kitchen – WindermereThought my lentil Daal was excellent. Want to return and try more of their vegan dishes!
Plant by Kat’s Kitchen – KeswickI had an excellent meal at the Beech Hill Hotel. The Seabass was gorgeous and was the Crème Brulee. A lovely half bottle of Rioja as I was dining solo and I thought the service very professional and friendly, particularly from the Maitre D'.
The Beech Hill Hotel and Spa – Windermerehorrible. just this minute been told to go here by another local business for that "real country feel" - if the real country was Berlin during the closing stages of WWII it might be right. The glasses filthy, another couple TOLD us not to order food, the staff are really rude and awful at their jobs and the drinks are most costly than other pubs in the area (of which you will be spoilt for choice) just go somewhere else, I thought these places were shut down in the 70s
Churchills Bar & Grill – WindermereLovely little café with character in Ambleside. Have a very nice lunch of smoked Salmon sandwich and a lovely soup. A good place to go for a shop too, lots of gifts and many made by the owner!
Mr H’s – AmblesideFirst visit since the fire and was a little apprehensive as I’ve known this beautiful old pub for years and years. I’m pleased to report that the famous four-poster bar survived the blaze intact and all-in-all it seems to have retained its character, despite the enforced makeover. I didn’t see any of the bedrooms in the main building but these were a little tired anyway so could probably have done with a refurb anyway.
Queens Head Hotel – WindermereHave been going to the Mason’s Arms for years now and it never gets tired. It’s hard to find but that’s all part of the fun. There are great views out over the Winster Valley and is summer it’s great outside in the sunshine. But winter’s just as good, especially if you can snag a place by the roaring fire. Great beer and good, hearty food. You can stay over too which must be great on a snowy Lakeland night.
Masons Arms – WindermereStayed the night here for our wedding anniversary recently and a had a great time. Although close to Bowness and Windermere, the Gilpin Valley is off the beaten track on the road to Crook and a real haven. The hotel was lovely – we had a great room with a huge copper bath. The bar has a roaring fire and the restaurant is great if you are a carnivore like me. We chose the rib of beef on the bone. The Wild Boar has its own private woodland too so next morning we had a stroll in the (unexpected) sunshine. Highly recommended for a Lakeland escape.
The Wild Boar Inn, Grill & Smokehouse – WindermereWhat a great little pub, hidden away in the back streets of Bowness. Full of character and on a crisp winter’s day with the fire roaring you can’t beat it. For summer, they have a small terrace out front but truth be told it’s winter when this place really comes into its own.
Hole in T’ Wall – WindermereVisit 3 or 4 times every year. The whole experience of this coffee shop is brilliant. I enjoy the experience of trying the various coffees available, which by the way I have never tasted anything better in my whole time of visiting Trek. The staff are really helpful and are always to make time to speak. Always worth visiting
