Villa Positano – WindermereStayed here with my wife for her birthday, really enjoyed our stay here, gorgeous traditional English rooms with four poster beds and beautiful views from the rooms, minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants and then back to the hotel bar for a night cap or three. Highly recommended for short breaks in the lakes.
Applegarth Hotel and Restaurant – WindermereStayed on saturday night in a four poster bed. Had a great lamb shank in front of a roaring fire and polished off a couple of bottles of Rioja. Great place.
Queens Head Hotel – WindermerePie-tastic place! stocked up pre wansfell trek. fabulous to munch the pie in sleet on top of aforementioned fell! I'll eat in next time.
Apple Pie Eating House and Bakery – AmblesideWe held our annual Christmas party for the second time in December. The food was superb, service excellent and we received a warm welcome. we were a party of 36 and I have not heard one bad comment. Following our meal entertainment was provided and a great time was had by all. The manager was pleasant and accommodating and joined in our fun. We have booked our place for next Christmas. Unbeatable !!!
Briery – Workingtonwhile at the briery for my Christmas party i was so impressed how they served 30 people so promptly and efficiently and the food was hot and delicious and yummy i can truly recommend the roast dinner and the pate was to die for cant wait to go again the manager margaret was very helpful and made sure our party went smoothly thank you very much what a good team
Briery – WorkingtonI loved my two night break at the Black Swan! I was taken there for my birthday by my husband on the Intermate Getaway deal that they run. We had Champagne & handmade Chocolate in our room on arrival & our evening meal on both nights was fantastic! The Best Steak we have ever had! The Sea Bass dish was also really good as were the homemade desserts. It was great sitting in the bar by the log fire & just being able to chill out! Thanks for a great weekend
Black Swan Inn – Penrithvisit Zefirellis everytime im in ambleside, always had a fantastic meal and evening, highly recommend the rainforest pizza. advise booking first, especially on the weekend.
Zeffirellis Pizzeria – AmblesideHello,my wife and i ,and her brother and a friend, were staying at the Whitewater hotel timeshare cottages in Backbarrow. We visited this pub many times while we staying here DEC 2008.The company and food was great.
Anglers Arms – Ulverstonvisited 2 months ago - food took ages then it was cold and the order was wrong, staff were pleasant enough - would recommend the royal george for better food and not as tatty decor.
Yankees – WorkingtonThis traditional Tea Room/Café is just wonderful! It’s very welcoming with well thought out lighting a decor. The deep pile carpet just makes it even more cosy than it already looks from the outside. They have a great selection of light snacks and meals on the very reasonably priced menu to suit most requirements. I would highly recommend it - Keep up the good work!
The Sedbergh Cafe – SedberghLovely atmosphere, great food, terrible service
Paulo Giannis Ristorante Italiano – KendalI recently took a party of 32 people for a birthday celebration on a sunday lunchtime. We had pre-ordered our food from 3 different menus as we had a number of people travelling after the meal. The food was of an excellent standard, service was excellent but not intrusive. The team there took care of the birthday cake, offering to cut it and serve it, whatever we wanted them to do. I cannot commend them highly enough. Many of our party were local and vowed to return for another meal. I shall certainly be going there again
Oily’s – WorkingtonGood food at very good prices. Excellent portions. Varied menu. Recommended.
Parkside Hotel – Cleator Moorreally good value for money, food excellent, very busy when we went had to wait but well worth it.
Turf Tavern The – CarlisleFor anyone considering going to this dire cafe, think again! The coffee and food on offer were admittedly OK, but the service was absolutely appalling. We should have realised before we even entered this awful establishment that the reception would be dreadful - the poorly worded notice on the door prohibiting prams and buggies did not suggest that the cafe would be family friendly - but the offhand and aggressive attitude of the manager was our main complaint. Even though we spent a reasonable amount, she refused to refill our small water glasses without charge (because it would cost her to wash the glasses). She was unnecessarily rude and undiplomatic, and we have advised numerous friends with guest houses in the area not to visit this hostile cafe.
Cafe Treff – AmblesideI went to Oilys with friends on a Saturday night, the place itself is really nice but that's as far as it goes. Each time we went to the bar and bought the same round of drinks the prices we different every time, when we questioned this we were met with an arrogant reply from the lady owner. When the food was brought out late there were no apologies, it was cold and undercooked, the chicken was raw inside and when it was returned to the table it was the same chicken but microwaved. At the end of the night one of the "chefs" came from behind the bar and accused us of stealing an candle stick holder, i'm sure if was a male customer he would not have been so rude. Don't eat here.....ever!!!!
Oily’s – WorkingtonLovely little Tea room, just wish that they allowed little dogs in on cold wet days...no where in Ulverston allows dogs which is a shame as there are so many delightful walks around the town.
