Great food at a great town.
Maryport Tandoori – Maryportv good
Salutation Inn – Keswickstaff great 2 young lads great
Horse and Farrier Inn – KeswickI found the food to be extremely well cooked and presented. Getting a proper blue steak is a test of a real chef and my fillet was perfect The decor was contradesque with a very friendly ambience and service. The views from the picture windows of the ancient church and distant fells was priceless.
Crown and Mitre Hotel – Penrithfood and atmosphere were excellent, recommend the fish pie and tattie pot!!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickOverlooking lake Ullswater the view is beautiful. Unfortunately we ended up eating a main course with no vegetables not realising they should be ordered separately. Our own fault I suppose but maybe some guidance by the waiter would have been helpful here. I cant imagine many people want just the main dish on its own. Instead we were left hungry so if you eat here remember to ask for side orders too! Having said that, what we did have was very nice.
Brackenrigg Inn – PenrithI would like to ask one question why is this place not in the major guides. Its quirky its true but the food is excellent (simple and well presented) the wine list WOW service great unhurried but attentive, and lord knows you need to be unhurried if you are going for several courses. Some strange conbinations but they work and HOW.Everything was exemplary. The abiance has to be unique, one feels totally at home. By the way the bar is very well stocked. Choice of Brandies and Malts really good. We will be back soon.
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessLovely views over the Lyth Valley with it's damson blossom looking so beautiful in the spring
Lyth Valley Hotel – KendalReally going to repeat many of the comments already on this site. The food is terrific, better than I expected and far better than literally anything else in Barrow. The seats are a bit austere and lack padding and it wasn't busy when I ate at lunchtime so it lacked a little atmosphere. That said, this place is a class act and beautifully presented. It won't be long before it's crammed full of Barrovians 24/7. Very very very good.
Duke of Edinburgh Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnessvery good place to go, you have to book first as it's a popular wedding venue but you won't be disappointed
Chequers Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnesspopular place to eat in barrow, gets so full weekday lunchtimes you may have to wait for a seat and you may even have to share a table but it's worth it.
Fig Tree Cafe – Barrow-in-FurnessSet in an outstanding location overlooking Lake Windermere, Holbeck Ghyll is the quintessential Country House Hotel. The food is of exceptional quality and presentation although 'hearty eaters' had best look elsewhere. More the place for Ladies who Lunch or a romantic dinner. Lunch is a set price with a limited choice, but a must for 'foodies' Good wine list.
Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel – WindermereBest of the 'traditional' pubs in town, the Dog & Gun offers great beer, great food and a great atmosphere. Packed with locals every night of the week - always a good sign in a tourist town.
Dog and Gun – KeswickGreat traditional Lakeland pub - one of the best examples in the Lakes. Great food, a good range of beers (if you like Jennings) and a great location with a nice beer garden. Of course, they celebrate this fact by hiking the prices up accordingly.
Horse and Farrier Inn – KeswickI love the square orange, one of my favourite places in the lakes. Tiny and full of charm, its my favourite place in town to go hide away from the crowds. Packed full of locals on a weekend, always a good sign in a tourist town. Top quality live music on a thursday, just a lovely little place to go chill out
Square Orange Cafe Bar – KeswickBest of the international restaurants in Keswick - been around for years and very popular with both locals and tourists. Great food, reasonably priced. Good for groups and open late.
Golden Hills – Keswickwonderful - don't need to say any more!
Log House Restaurant – AmblesideThe food is so great. The owner are friendly. They can cook the real Thai that I never met them before in UK. I would like to recommend if you have a trip in the Lake District.
Doi Intanon Thai Restaurant – Ambleside3 small plates or side dishes for £23, valid Tuesday to Friday 12 noon to 5pm.
