Our 2nd visit during our 2 week holiday. The pub was very busy, and unfortunately the waiter who took our food order didn’t put it through to the kitchen. Another member of staff came and asked us after 45 minutes of waiting if we had ordered our food, apologised profusely and gave us another round of free drinks. The food then came quickly, very good again, 2 curries and a scampi. The waitress was very good when I was stung by a wasp during dessert, getting me some ice which she put in a clean cloth to apply to the sting. The menu caters for everyone, the food is home cooked, plentiful and delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Great food and lovely atmosphere. Drove past this pub on our way into Keswick. It looked nice so we looked it up on review sites - it got great reviews so we thought we'd try it out. Really glad we came. Lovely tasty food. Good range of options on the menu including vegetarian/ vegan options too. Good range of low / no alcohol beers and spirits too which was good. We had a lovely meal and would gladly come back. ... which is clearly what others around us were doing - with others saying they come back to this pub / restaurant every year on holiday. Definitely worth a visit.

I always book this restaurant for professional entertaining. They are really accommodating and helpful, especially with last minute changes. It is great value for money while offering a nice, varied menu with plenty for vegetarians too. The food tastes great and the service is really friendly and not intrusive. I would definitely recommend.

A lovely early evening meal at the pheasant inn, 1st time dining there and we enjoyed it the food and service was very good. We will return and highly recommend, you are best to pre book to be assured a table.

We had booked this as a drop off point on our way home so didn’t know what to expect. We had delicious food, a nice selection of hearty meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely old Inn, well worth a visit. Thank you

The service, atmosphere and food quality were all excellent. The pub is continuously improving. If you want a great night out in an historic English pub thee is no finer place than the Horse and Farrier, Dacre.

Best Sunday lunch around.....

Very friendly staff, great atmosphere. Sunday lunch was great,beef maybe slightly too rare. All in all really enjoyable experience, would certainly visit again when in the area.

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Grants of Castlegate. Their Cumbrian lamb was exquisitely cooked, with well chosen vegetables (including a bed of rocket and roasted carrots). The rhubarb tart with ginger ice cream was also delightful. If we're in Penrith again, this will probably be our chosen place to dine.

Superb food, excellent friendly service. Great atmosphere, definitely the best meal we had during our visit to the Lakes.
