The visit didn’t start that well as we were booked at 19:45 but weren’t seated at our table until 20:15 (no recognition in the form of free drink or bit of discount was offered for this). That and having to ask a second time for the bottle of wine ordered is why I only rated service as a 3. Food is good and good value without being spectacular and there is lots of it. The atmosphere is good if you like somewhere that’s a bit louder than your average restaurant. We were in until just after 2200 and by then downstairs was pretty lively and loud because of the live music which does impinge on the ambiance upstairs but the restaurant is very clear that live music will be on so we don’t have an issue with it although some people might. We had an enjoyable night but I wouldn’t rush back.

We ate here twice on our weekend away in Buxton celebrating a special birthday. What a find! Perfectly cooked and presented good quality food with generous portions and fantastic hospitality. We had burger meals, sea bass and the roast on the Sunday. We had ice-cream and cheesecake for afters. Well done and thank you for being part of making our weekend special.

The Two Hares – GlossopFour of us ordered coffees and brunch on Sunday last. Sadly it was not the positive experience we had hoped. The coffee wasn’t great, lukewarm warm and harsh flavour (tho I know flavour is a personal thing). Our breakfasts took over 20mins to arrive, which would have been ok had the breakfast been of excellent quality, sadly it was not. The bacon had been cooked and left in a warm place, it was very hard in texture, the sausage wasn’t a good texture either, cold toast and no butter. The food was warm at best. We were asked if everything was ok, but given how long the food had taken to arrive the thought of something being redone we didn’t say anything at that point. I hadn’t visited was the cafe before, it’ll be a while before I go again.

Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonI took my son for a meal, we had the Cote de beouf, it was amazing, the steak was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious, the Mac & cheese with bacon bits was so good. The atmosphere was a bit crazy, with live music, and people dancing everywhere. We had the best time & would definitely recommend this for food or even just a drink. But it would be criminal not to have such amazing food if you did visit.

Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWhat an absolute gem of a pub. The staff were so friendly and offered a prompt service. The food was amazing, pipping hot and reasonable priced. I had the fish croutons, homemade chips and salad, my husband had the steak and Stilton pie. Both meals were delicious. The pub also allowed dogs, which was fantastic after a long walk. We would definitely come again and I highly recommend.
