Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWent for Sunday lunch on 28/7/24.The 3 sunday roasts were quite nice...worthy of the accolade "best sunday lunch in County Durham " ?not specifically...pleasant enough but not outstanding...also my daughter had the chicken breast which came on the bone ?!potato skin starters were excellent though
The Farmers Arms – DurhamBeen here a few times now, and it's becoming a favourite. Really good quality food and a nice atmosphere. nice to see there's not a huge menu, to me this is a good sign. The options the get a fixed price for 2 or 3 courses are very good value, but even with the supplements added on it's still very reasonable, especially when it is as good as it is. Desserts aren't really my thing, but other people I've been with did say there could have been a tad more choice there, but the starters and mains are all an option for myself, so I'm more than happy. Couple of decent beers and the quirky decor all add up to a great place to come and eat. Definitely recommend this place.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamOswalds restaurant was a very interesting experience. First impressions were poor, the smell of damp, stained old carpet and cheap tables as you enter are not the kind of thing you expect from somewhere that is charging the prices that they are. The service was good and staff were all very friendly. However cleanliness needs attention. The table we were sat at was sticky, to the point the dessert spoon was stuck to the table. The knives and forks did not match and the wine glasses we were given for our wine did not match and were very poor quality, again for a restaurant charging these prices I would expect a lot more. The food itself was ok, nothing special. We both had steak which had a bit of a rubbery texture but was edible, again would expect more for £29. We didn’t get to have dessert as the electric went off, totally not the hotels fault but was a little confused as to why we couldn’t have a cold dessert such as cheesecake. Overall not a great experience.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonEverything you would expect from from a well run pub. Good food, service and we'll priced.
Red Alligator – Bishop AucklandLovely ambiance in the restaurant area.People who worked there were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our meals and will be going there again.
Red Alligator – Bishop AucklandExcellent service and great value for quality food. Cannot fault!
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamWe have visited this place several times recently. Always pleased with food, not so pleased with a couple of the staff. They certainly need training as to customer hospitality. Sullen, unhelpful, no smiles or asking if all was ok. No apple sauce for the pork. Shocked that two scoops of vanilla ice cream was £6.95 same price as other desserts
The Farmers Arms – DurhamBirthday meal for 10 food was fab hanging kebabs were lovely sweets were nice good service friendly staff carnt fault it 3 course meals value for money
The Farmers Arms – DurhamOne of the best three course meals we have ever had - cannot believe the price point for how lovely it was. We arrived just after opening so we didn't have to wait too long. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back!
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamOur first time visiting here, such a lovely restaurant and the food was beautiful, staff were all so helpful and kind and the wait time for the food was not very long at all. We will definitely be visiting again :)
The Farmers Arms – DurhamThis was our first visit as we were recommended by a friend. Quirky pub in a lovely village. Plenty of parking. Outside beer garden with lovely coloured sheds, however was all closed which is odd for summer, although still accessible. Me and my daughter had a look around as there was a gorgeous fairy house, there were a few broken light bulbs so we went back inside. Inside the pub it's very Quirky and all staff very friendly. The meal itself was beautiful. We did have to wait quite a while between courses and at one point my partner had to go to the bar to get more drinks as no one was in the restaurant side to ask. We waited 30 minutes for the mains, our plates weren't cleared away for 20 minutes after we were finished the mains. Overall it's good value for money with the 3 courses for £20. The pub itself wasn't overly busy when we were there so we felt the lack of service at our table was a bit odd. Our players had no been cleared away and the only member of staff was folding fresh napkins. Overall time for meal was quite long for us as we had young, hungry children with us. When paying the bill another table were asking how long their food was going to be as they had been waiting a while. For this reason, although the food was lovely, we will not be returning
The Farmers Arms – DurhamFood nice but previous afternoon tea was bigger and didn't get pots of tea had to get one from vending machine
