We have been to this pub many times in the past, when we used to look after our young grandson once a week. We always used to have our evening meal at the Half Moon on our way back home. There was always a warm welcome and a varied menu available. My wife who is a celiac, had a full gluten free menu to choose from. We recently returned to the Half Moon, taking my Mother-in Law for a meal on her Birthday. Again we had a warm welcome and the food was enjoyed by all that came. The prices are very reasonable. My Mother-in Law was made a fuss of because it was her 96th Birthday and they kindly put a candle on her dessert and everyone in the pub sang Happy Birthday.

Lovely Rump steak & Ham egg & chips , highly recommended this place , we were staying at hurst view campsite so a nice 15min walk .

Came in yesterday with my mum before the show at the Mayflower. Food was quick, hot and absoutely gorgeous. Me and my mum ordered a pasta carbonara each and it was so yummy. The service was quick and all the staff was so polite.

Fantastic country pub food. Super attentive staff. Warm atmosphere, pub was able to cater for everyone, and uses the outside areas well. Very good value for money in this day and age. Highly Recommended.

We went here for a meal on our last night of our holiday. We didn't have to wait long for our food after we had ordered it. The food was hot and very nice. The batter on the fish and chips was really tasty and the fish was light and fluffy and good size piece. The scampi was nice and succulent and plenty of it.The chicken goujons were a good size and plenty of them. Staff were polite and friendly. We will definitely be going back when we are next down on holiday.

Looking at the other reviews we must have been very unlucky. There were a group of people shouting & knocking a chair over outside when we arrived. The pub was dead inside and were surprised as food is between 6-8 and we arrived at 7pm and live music was due at 8:30. Unfortunately the fish & chips wasn’t very nice and the chips could have been wedges but reheated a few times and very dry. The Thai Crab cakes were sloppy and didn’t looked fully cooked. The koftas were tasty & spicy though. We did complain about the crab cakes and were given free drinks, the chef admitted they could have been crispier. Overall not a great experience and at 8:30 no sign of being setup for music so left. Toilet needed cleaning!

Unfortunately have not been able to get to the Platform for a while . Am glad to say that we weren’t disappointed on our return. Atmosphere, staff , live music, all take some beating ! Perhaps the loos could do with improvements though ! The menu is not as large as it once was, and we both ordered burgers . They were delicious so no complaints there ! Perhaps a bit more choice for mains would be better - the tapas menu offered a varied and interesting choice which is good but no knowing if they would be as substantial as our burgers meant we were reluctant to try them ? As ever though, a thoroughly enjoyable evening at this lively pub !

So many pubs have stopped serving food on Monday lunchtimes that there isn't a huge amount of choice locally when the family's in town and you need a good, relatively inexpensive lunch for 6 people at a day's notice. So it's good to have the Half Moon virtually on my doorstep. Excellent food, a varied menu, friendly host and pleasant surroundings. Recommended

My husband and I have a very pleasant evening, the food was very good, although, for me the portions where a bit to much. The young lady who served us was very polite, and helpful. It was a very quiet evening, but the atmosphere was welcoming. We would definitely recommend to our family and friends, and we intend to book again in the future.

We were a party of 6 for Sunday lunch, 5 roasties and a burger, Burger was voted delicious, my roast lamb was nice plenty of it, veg was good broccoli and carrots weren't over cooked, always a big fear of mine, the red cabbage would have been even nicer with some additional seasoning, cranberry or balsamic, the biggest disappointment were the roast potatoes, the variety used were too waxy, hadn't been par boiled long enough if at all so no crispness to the outside and no fluffyness to the inside. (I trained as a chef, I know my spuds!haha) Having said this our party enjoyed the venue and excellent service and will be back to try other dishes from the menu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The premises have been beautifully refurbished, the service was excellent, and we were very pleased to be able to order smaller portions --as we are rather elderly. The food was very delicious and one of most have gluten free food, and that was very well- catered for.

Had a couple of drinks and a meal. The service was OK but our wine was just plonked on the table with the top still on, no offer of pouring or tasting it and one of our glasses was dirty. Found the restaurant area to be completely devoid of any atmosphere maybe due to being a Thursdaynight? The food was good.

Wasn’t over impressed with having our table by the loo, busy! A2 seater would be better there. Plus experience would be nicer with more decor in eating area. Very plain? More plants Peehaps? An Ivy or vine? Been to the platform many times but have never eaten. Service very good Great food. We all enjoyed and must say the special, Sea bass, was best ever! Yes we will eat again there but spruce up the dining area please

Very tasty and plentiful Sunday roast meals were served to our group on 30th July 2023. All of the roasts had plenty of meat as well as fresh vegetables, cauliflower cheese, roasties and gravy. Both waitresses who looked after us were friendly and patient.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Platform Tavern which is a relaxed and comfortable pub with a great atmosphere and lots of live music on offer. We decided on an early evening dinner and had the steak and guinness pie with mash and seasonal vegetables. It was absolutely delicious, very obviously home made with lovely gravy and loads of mash and fresh vegetables. It was the epitome of a great pub meal - delicious and very generous portions. It was amazingly good value. Can certainly highly recommend.
