Me and my partner visited on Friday the 16th food was as good as we have had before it might of been the time if night but quality was poor and not a lot if options left

Tasty evening meal with very friendly service. Breakfasts are plentiful and relaxed.

We went to El Toro Sunday teatime with our 7 year old daughter and we had the all you can menu. Restaurant was very clean and tidy and staff lovely. The food was really nice and tasty and filling and good value for money. I would definitely recommend and go again

Absolutely stunning food! This is one of our favourite places to eat in York! There was 11 of us and no one could fault the food!! Only thing I would say is that the service was a little slow and it caused confusion when we said we wanted separate tabs (which I had advised when booking over the phone) - a standard request in hospitality. This resulted on 1 person having to foot a several hundred-pound bill which could easily have been avoided. Would still highly recommend - get the nachos, they're insane!!

The food was of the usual very high standard and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything we had to eat. The staff were friendly and polite particularly the male member of staff working the bar and taking orders. Only negatives I would say is that it's far too hot with the fire on in the bar and it's so dark you can barely see to read the menu. Also we're all fairly tall and the tables were quite low so not overly comfortable to eat at but fine for sitting for drinks. I also booked online and thought it would be a restaurant table so another time I'd call instead to ensure we got a dining room table. Overall the food was lovely and we had a really nice evening.

Recent refurb is brilliant. Friday evening it had a great atmosphere and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was great and all our meals were very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a meal on 16th February 2024 with our 2 granddaughters aged 10 and 12, fantastic service as always and a great choice of food. All cooked freshly and served piping hot. We will return again soon.

Although nice enough the afternoon tea was not as good as the first one we had. The service was very good. The method of payment however was not something I've experienced before. The deposit was the full amount of the afternoon teas and was taken from my bank account almost straight away upon booking. With the teas we ordered extra drinks which obviously we had to pay for. This amount was added onto the deposit and had to be paid in full. In the meantime the deposit would be refunded. This took a couple of days to reach my bank account. So all the deposits taken, from the day they are taken, the day of booking, are sitting in the bank account of Tocketts Mill. The customer then pays that deposit again plus their extras on the day of the meal/tea to have that also sitting in the account of Tocketts Mill until they decide to refund the deposit. Confused, I was too. Surely it would have been simpler to just charge for the extra round of drinks on the day.

Exellent service and food was excellent and hot when served. Only issue was a bit cold as windows open. Would certainly recommend as staff very friendly.
