We visited Istanbul Grill in Prestwich in September 2011 on a Thursday night. There were three of us in the party and we have always enjoyed Cafe Istanbul in Manchester before so thought we would visit. It was a last minute decision so we didn't book. To summarise the food was great but the service was terrible - we will not be going back despite the great food. When we arrived it was fairly busy and we were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table and did we want to have a drink while we waited. We then waited 20 minutes just to order drinks and nearly an hour for a table. The waiters were quite abrupt and rude and I don't mind waiting as long as I am made to feel like a human being and not a huge inconvenience as a customer. We ordered starters - I had garlic mushrooms and we also ordered olives and bread which were all delicious! For main I had the halibut with rice and this was beautiful. The fish was cooked perfectly and it tasted amazing. Ther other guests in the party really enjoyed their food too. It is a shame that the service we recieved was so bad - but so many restaurants nowadays don't seem to be able to marry great food with great service.
