Horse and Farrier – PenrithExcellent food and service for our valentine meal. The only criticism was that the people on the next table were very noisy.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe enjoyed an excellent meal at the Horse and Farrier. Three of us visited for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the roast.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithOur neighbours and we, came on day after reopening, for dinner and a catch up. Each of us chose different mains from the mains, and we’re each wowed by the taste and quality of the offerings. Much different and more exciting than more standard pub fare otherwise locally (which is also good and hearty). But this menu is a step up, and stands out. Thank you. Oh! We then had dessert (boys ordered spoons). Absolutely delish (fyi honeycomb, lime sorbet, cream ice, as components to main item) We paid £75 per couple in total (incl service which we added as not auto included - that’s style. ). Thanks again.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithThis is a lovely country pub with great service and even better food. We enjoyed one of the best Roast Beef Sunday lunches we have ever had which also included a perfect Cauliflower Cheese. Every part of the dinner was perfect! Good wine selection, great local coffee and well kept independent Cumbrian real ales. The service was friendly and our table had lovely views!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithAlways a fab all round experience.
Horse and Farrier – Penrithexcellent meal once again. The steak was one of the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection. very friendly staff, excellent wine, the place never disappoints!
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithFabulous food, lobster croquet, pork belly and crackling. Lovely hostess and calm ambience.
Grants Of Castlegate – Penrith5 star
Horse and Farrier – PenrithGorgeous Sunday roast! We will definitely be back.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe had a News Years Eve meal, I’ve got say the Food was exceptional, the Fillet Steak was cooked to perfection for us we asked for medium rare with a slightly charcoal finish and it was perfect, also the service and staff were so friendly and helpful!!! Would definitely Highly Recommend it, and not miss ever going there then next time staying in Penrith !! BRILLIANT!!!
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithAn excellent New Year's Day lunch. Great food, wide-ranging, quality drinks choice and top notch service from staff. Definitely a five star establishment. As a vegetarian I did find the choice rather limited and the soup course - which I would normally expect to be universal - was not veggie friendly. An observation which is not enough to put us off returning but maybe an additional veggie main might be considered? All-in-all a very pleasant dining experience. Thank you.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithExcellent restaurant. One of our local favourites. Never had a bad meal in all the times we have been there. Like to try all the different dishes which are superb. Owners are really nice and the service is excellent.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithSorry to say but we didn’t eat. We arrived just before 6pm. We waited about 25 mins for a drink at the table. Another 20 mins for our order to be taken and after being there an hour a half our food still had not arrived. We did ask how long but we were not prepared to wait any longer. There were complaints in the dining room from a large party that the food that they had pre ordered ( which arrived an hour or so late) was not cooked properly namely the chicken. This put us off even more. There was a young girl serving a full bar, and waiting on in the restaurant. She said that they were short staffed! The ‘chef’ was behind the bar and bringing the food out to the big table. They were taking walk ins for food. The waitress was struggling with the bar and people were waiting over 30mins for drinks. I’m from an F&B background and it was awful to watch. Especially when the pub was recommended.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithThis was our second visit with friends. Our first visit was a Sunday lunch and it was perfect. Everything taste so good. The staff are really polite and helpful. Jo is lactose intolerant and we find it hard to be catered for in many places. They catered well with out loosing any quality. 10 stars on all things from front of house staff to the kitchen staff. Well done. We will be back. Happy new year to all at the Horse and Farrier.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithLovely food and well presented, the lady who served us was excellent, friendly and gave us lots knowledge about the local area. I'f we are in the area again we would definitely go back
