We had popped in for a drink one afternoon when the chef was on his break We got talking and he told us about the gluten feee options.He certainly lived up to his word, amazing gluten free fish and chips ! The nicest I’ve ever had. They have a varied menu, something for everyone. Good selection of real ales and wines. The Penny Lane Sauvignon was really good.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithVisited the Horse and Farrier in Dacre twice while on holiday. The food was exceptional, great portions and beautifully presented and cooked. Good choice of locally brewed ales and lager. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe were recommended Horse and Farrier by our host at Barton Hall, Pooley Bridge, in 2023. We were impressed by menu, food and atmosphere. For our 2025 trip, we made reservations well ahead of time for two dinners. No word of a lie, we overheard a number of other tables mention that they make a point of dining at H&F when they are in the district.
