Best Sunday dinner I've had in a long time.

This was our third visit to the Horse and Farrier and we will be back next year! The food is always lovely and fresh. There is a beer garden to enjoy the sun. Staff are very efficient and friendly.

Great food, friendly and efficient service, couldn't ask for more!

We have had several excellent meals at the Horse and Farrier in recent years but this was the best one yet. The new chef is a star. All four of us chose the halibut special. It was a wonderful dish. The fish was cooked perfectly and the Mediterranean style vegetables were just right on a very warm summer evening. As for the bitter chocolate mousse with cherries! I don't usually eat dessert but this was just amazing, both rich and refreshing - a difficult act to pull off. . Not a cheap meal but very good value for food of this quality. We shall certainly be back

We had booked this as a drop off point on our way home so didn’t know what to expect. We had delicious food, a nice selection of hearty meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely old Inn, well worth a visit. Thank you

The service, atmosphere and food quality were all excellent. The pub is continuously improving. If you want a great night out in an historic English pub thee is no finer place than the Horse and Farrier, Dacre.

Best Sunday lunch around.....

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Grants of Castlegate. Their Cumbrian lamb was exquisitely cooked, with well chosen vegetables (including a bed of rocket and roasted carrots). The rhubarb tart with ginger ice cream was also delightful. If we're in Penrith again, this will probably be our chosen place to dine.

Best food in the area by far. Lovely atmosphere and service. Excellent gluten free options. We always come here several times when we stay locally.

This was the 4th time this year i came up from Stockport and chose to go back to Grants for Saturday evening meal. We have tried different places over the last few years, but nothing matches the quality. The service from Heather has been excellent and hats off to the chef, perfectly cooked fillet medium rare every single time. see you next time.

food was great especially as small portion was available as elderly clients we don't like wasting food with large portions. good value for money for food. we found wine very expensive approx £9 for a medium glass of ordinary wine , but we might just be out of touch. would go back again but stick to beer.

Visited Penrith and was recommended this restaurant. It didn’t disappointment it was the best meal we had all trip. The venue was lovely, food amazing and service absolutely top class. There was a few little things that people would complain about but it was the way these were dealt with by an amazing team.

Had an excellent meal here. Great starters and mains. Staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend.
