Visited twice in the past few weeks both times on a Saturday 2:30pm and had the meat platter for. £30, great value and plenty for 2 people. Staff were attentive and pleasant. The first time was a little noisy as a large hen party was upstairs but the second time it was quieter, this didn’t put us off returning . We sat in a booth both times. Not sure how good value for money the main menu is the the platter with 2 very small glasses of wine is a great deal, weds-sat 12-3pm.

Booked for lunch online, no problems doing that. When we arrived there were lots of free tables both by the bar and in the other room, but we were shown to a table right in front of the bar, asked to be moved to the other room which they did, the menu gave us plenty of choice. The service started off as being good and the starters and mains were tasty but when came to the desserts/coffees had to go to the bar to order as they did not come back to get our order.

The service from Gretel and Charlie was brilliant, and the food was really well presented and delicious.

Amazing as always, very welcoming even when we had a last minute guest turn up! Top quality food every time we have been.

Visited on the Sunday. Food was very nice, I had the steak pie from the specials and my wife had the sunday lunch. We both enjoyed the main courses, and the starters before them. I am glad to find a place that has accepted they have to put the prices up a bit to maintain quality, rather than simply keep the same prices and reduce the standards. The only slight issue was the pint of Moretti I had was a little warm, but given the temperature I drank it quickly anyway. The staff were very friendly, and seemed to be working very hard on a very hot and muggy day. Can't be easy in those conditions, especially when they had to cope with a Karen ranting about something and nothing and making a young girl cry - nice work Kazza. Haven't been for a while, and the refurb and new layout seems to work. Will be back soon.

Absolutely amazing! Staff really friendly. Food feels like you’re aboard. Beef melts in your mouth. Atmosphere great. Busy which shows how amazing this place is.

There was a large group in the restaurant area who were incredibly loud and obnoxious. On paying our bill the staff present agreed that they were very loud but that they didnt want to challenge them aa they felt they had had too much alcohol!! Surely the staff should have done this. It ruined our meal and do not feel like we will return.

3rd time we've eaten here. Waitresses were lovely and very attentive on the mezzanine and the food was just incredible, we both loved it. Will definately be back again soon...

This was the first time we'd been back to The Whitchaff since it's refurb. I found the booking process online very easy, although next time I might see if I can ask for a particular table in the 'extra info' box. I had the Lancashire burger, which was delicious; Allan had the fish and chips with mushy peas. The refurb is lovely, very classy, and the service we received was spot on - friendly and not too pushy. We will definitely be back as I want to try the sharing platters!

Will never eat here again. We were sat at a high table in direct sunshine. Could hardly see but were not offered a different table. The girl serving who came for our drinks order didn't even know what drinks they had. She had to go and check. The food was ok but nothing special and quite expensive. The place was so loud we could barely hear each other. If you want a nice relaxing dining experience avoid this place.

No impressed, food wasn't great at all. Ordered Caesar salad, expecting Caesar salad but we received a Chicken breast, with two strips of bacon and 4 pieces of fried bread on top of a very small amount of mixed lettuce. The side order of chips was not cooked properly and still hard in the middle. Dressing was minimal and in a bowl as was the parmesan. really not what we expected at all. Further more we were brought our bill and asked how we were paying as we had just ordered coffee, we hadn't ordered the bill and felt very rushed out. Not a pleasant experience all in all.

We had a lovely lunch at the Whitchaff Inn - the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!
