Went here for birthday celebrations…. Not happy! There were huge amount of flies in the building whilst eating which wasn’t nice. Staff lacked experience as didn’t know what drinks they had to offer. Food was nice, even though starters was cold ( still tasted good ) Very rushed towards the end as they had to wash up. Then manager short changed us £10 and got extremely defensive when questioned. I now feel robbed! Unfortunately won’t be returning!

(Sugar on table) Sweets were both excellent so overall a pleasant lunch out in lovely environment. Would definitely use again but would prefer a little more meat/fish as there seemed to be an over emphasis on vegetarian dishes.

The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordHaving previously visited here and number of times and loved it, I am disappointed to say this visit was not as positive. We waited almost 50 minutes for our starters and a further 30 minutes for our mains. The food itself was delicious and well cooked but the poor service dampened the mood. The manager did apologise for the wait which we appreciated.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe had a table for 4, the service was very good and friendly. Of the 4 of us 2had the mega mixed grill and the 8 oz rump steak. The mixed grill was nice but was let down by half the 4oz steak being full of gristle, that applied to both meals and also the rump steak. I feel that when paying £25 for a mixed grill that a better quality steak could have been provided. We didn’t complain because the staff were so nice, but we did mention it afterwards.
The Malthouse – TelfordNot overly impressed to be honest, service was substandard, the place wasn’t busy, the food was overpriced, you couldn’t sink your teeth into the chicken burger as it was hard like rubber and overcooked by over grilling burning, no checkup if everything was ok, fortunately my partner enjoyed her meal, but just poor service :(
The Malthouse – TelfordI went as I wanted a steak, and they told me they were all out. My wife also wanted rum and pineapple juice, and they said they were out of pineapple juice. Would have been a much better experience if they kept on top of stock levels. The food I did get though was good, and so was the dessert.

The 'burnt bits' starter was delicious and thoroughly recommended. Portion sizes were just right - not too big, but not too small. First visit, but wont be our last - will definitely be revisiting.

One point: was unable to leave a credit card tip for the staff, I think you need to add this to you card machines and also mention on the receipts that service is not included. Otherwise, I couldn't fault it.

Water Rat – IronbridgeFood Amazing… came for a little meal out and can honestly say it was so good and tasty we had the Cajun Chicken Burger and Shropshire Blue Cheese Messy Fries. Been before so I knew I would be getting amazing food. But took my other half for the first time and he was just as amazed as I was the first time I visited the MaltHouse. Staff are lovely but could be doing with being a bit more enthusiastic about their jobs it almost felt like a chore to them. But that being said they were well mannered and attentive. Just seemed a bit down and unenthusiastic.
