Went for Sunday lunch with family. We were warned that there was a 40 minute wait for food and I’d say it was at least that. Appreciate that Sunday lunchtimes are busy but that is quite a long time. I had fish and chips which was decent. Those that had roasts got a rather flat Yorkshire pudding though the rest looked ok. The kids pizza looked like it probably came out of the freezer. The beer was good. The service was fine. Overall I thought it was OK. It’s a big pub so maybe trying to cater for more than it can reasonably manage when full? I’d go again but it might not be might first choice.

The Alvanley Arms is my family’s first choice for a truly delicious meal and outstanding customer care and service, The Sunday lunch is absolutely knock out. Not only well cooked, well presented food but also exceptional value for money. Service charge is not automatically added which is a refreshing change nowadays and a major irritation to me personally. The Alvanley Arms staff deserve a tip as their service is outstanding and I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone who is looking for a value for money delicious meal in beautiful surroundings

I regularly dine at this pub. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Came for Sunday lunch to celebrate family birthday. Good to see the pub busy. We were advised at time of ordering it might take up to minutes. Food did take a little longer than normal but was within the 40 minutes. The Sunday lunch was great, good portions, hot and very tasty. We all enjoyed our visit, thank you to all staff.

After missing out on a meal here before Christmas due to a power failure, we finally visited yesterday and we were definitely not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by all members of staff. Drinks and food ordered and these arrived promptly. Food was piping hot, well-presented and tasted delicious. If I had one complaint it was that the hot food was served on cold plates. Having said that we would certainly visit again

We have often called in during the week, but this was our first Sunday dinner at the Plough. It was excellent. We got a friendly welcome and prompt service. I had a roast beef dinner and husband had turkey. The meals were hot, very tasty and huge! Eight different vegetables including the biggest roasties ever! Thanks to all - we both fell asleep when we got home!

Superb evening, food is top notch, the staff are so welcoming, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. It is one of my favourite restaurants and beats most of the high-end restaurants in central Manchester and it's competitively priced too.

Excellent restaurant, we have a meal here fairly regularly and never let down, lovely staff and atmosphere, family run business makes a difference.

Food was good, service was good, beer was good. Prices aren't bad but we used discount vouchers that reduced the cost by 25% on food to was great value.

Lovely meal. Great location. Super staff. Lovely touch with a candle for granddaughters birthday. Highly recommend.

Highly highly recommend this restaurant. This was my first time and was blown away with everything. The food was superb and they obviously have a very accomplished chef. We had the set lunch menu and it was difficult to choose as all sounded lovely. I started with haggis which was delicious then I had liver for my main course and it was melt in the mouth. My friends had the chicken and they said it was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent and the ambience was lovely. I can't wait to dine there again!

Went here with the family, 2nd time we’ve been. The food is amazing! Prices are standard for the area so good value for money! Service this time was a little slow (we were a last minute big group booking), however they more than made up for this by bringing us a free share platter to keep us going! Staff are friendly and helpful, as said in a few reviews the music is a little loud, meaning having to talk quite loudly which isn’t easy in a bigger group. Otherwise perfect. We will be back ☺️
