Wish they’d take down the partitions they put up in the pandemic- detracts from the atmosphere, and the canteen like seating on the patio is more profitable I’m sure, but as a place I used to go regularly with local chums for Sunday lunch, it’s not even on my list anymore, but I’m sure it’s far more profitable…even though the staff are all on minimum wage. Shame but unsurprising.

Hartfields – UckfieldThe food at Ancient Grains is absolutely delicious! We have ordered on both the pre order and a la carte menus and loved it all. We would particularly recommend the meat platter on the pre-order menu and the sardine starter and boar ragú on the mains. The service is brilliant, and the restaurant has gorgeous decor and a friendly, relaxed, but luxurious atmosphere.

When they did come, they were slammed down on the table in front of us. The food was very good, however the service left a bad taste. I will not be returning.
