We always enjoy our visit to The Pheasant though tonight was a bit mixed. Food( quality and volume) and drink were up to the usual good standard Always a difficult one to judge for those serving, but service was a bit hit and miss - we were ushered to our table upon entering and then it was 15 minutes before anybody came to speak to us, surprisingly, to ask if we’re were ready to order, rather than ‘ would we like a drink’? Further, immediately after our meal, completed at 21.00, our bill arrived. It seemed as if some of the staff were in a rush to get home or on to a night out. Our only other comment would be that the decor is looking a bit tired - chipped table mats, damaged walls, pictures showing local images in dated frames, etc. If the place were mine I would be looking to keep the character, but upgrade one room every year or so. Easy said given the volume of customers and I appreciate there is a financial balance to be considered.
