Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereNormally go to The Jumble rooms but decided to change …..definitely not disappointed, food was excellent. Hubby and I had steak and it was melt in the mouth. Will book for next year. Didn’t get rushed out and we ended up literally being the last ones in. Shame it’s not open on a Sunday. But granted you need a rest :)

Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithSunday lunch at the Pheasant was superb. This was our first visit and we both had the roast beef Sunday lunch. The food was extremely tasty and thebportion size was very generous. Well cooked meat with plenty of additional veg and the yorkshire pudding was half the size of the plate. We even had a side portion of cheesy leeks thrown in with the meal. The staff were so polite and ensured everything was ok with the food. Such a warm welcoming and we felt very comfortable as we were not rushed even though they were very busy.

Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – Rydalwe had dinner at the Pheasant last Saturday. Our reservation was honoured at the appointed time at a table in the main dining room as requested. It has a cosy but lively atmosphere. Service was excellent: staff quickly took our orders for drinks and food. The menu and drinks list are extensive. My three course meal was superb and I think that the rest of party thoroughly enjoyed theirs. When delivered at the end of the evening, the bill seemed quite reasonable for such an enjoyable evening.
