Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe were staying at a local campsite and The Greyhound was recommended. Checking its website it looked just what we were looking for. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly face and led is to a table. I had the Chicken with a Leek,Bacon and Cheddar Cheese sauce and my hubby had the Double Burger with Bacon. Excellent service super pub food in a great atmosphere . The locals were having a great time and included us. Next time we are in the area we will return. A good night out 5*.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleWe had a lovely meal at the Queens Head. We had a drink in the bar first which had a lovely ambience and atmosphere. The restaurant was delightful with the food and service being top quality. Recommend booking as it is very popular.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithWe really enjoyed our visit! We were well looked after and the food was lovely. Particularly the Yorkshire pudding roast wrap! Good value for money too!
Pig and Whistle – CartmelWe always enjoy our visit to The Pheasant though tonight was a bit mixed. Food( quality and volume) and drink were up to the usual good standard Always a difficult one to judge for those serving, but service was a bit hit and miss - we were ushered to our table upon entering and then it was 15 minutes before anybody came to speak to us, surprisingly, to ask if we’re were ready to order, rather than ‘ would we like a drink’? Further, immediately after our meal, completed at 21.00, our bill arrived. It seemed as if some of the staff were in a rush to get home or on to a night out. Our only other comment would be that the decor is looking a bit tired - chipped table mats, damaged walls, pictures showing local images in dated frames, etc. If the place were mine I would be looking to keep the character, but upgrade one room every year or so. Easy said given the volume of customers and I appreciate there is a financial balance to be considered.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe had a fantastic evening on the 25th October. The service was excellent: very friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. I had the scallops to start followed by the fillet steak and finished off with the raspberry mousse. All 3 courses were superb and the steak was one of the best I have ever tasted. I would highly recommend the restaurant.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereReally delicious meal I had the chicken as a main and scallops as a starter. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. Service very good. I'd say good value for money as far s lakes prices go. Book online in advance.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were only in Carlisle for approximately 2 hours having travelled on the Midland Pullman. I had booked the restaurant in advance and was very pleased with our choice. There was a cosy feeling to the restaurant and an excellent and varied menu. We both went for the home made vegetable soup and the salmon in a lemon sauce with chips and vegetables. Very tasty and filling. We could not manage a sweet. If I lived local to the restaurant I would re-visit. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. E very good experience and fair value for money.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleJust wrote my review but pressed submit before I had completed the rating - so this is what I meant to put
