Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe live locally and this pub although small offers a great choice of food and the service is excellent- I had gammon which was bigger than my head! With 2 eggs! Dog friendly too.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe only visit Keswick once a year and Sunday Lunch at the Pheasant is a bit of a tradition. Once again service and food well up to the standard we've grown to expect. It's nice to find constancy in life! Bring an appetite - or take away a 'doggy bag'. Really tasty traditional food and great pubby atmosphere - good beer too. Do book on a summer Sunday -it was really busy
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe have eaten at the Pheasant many times and the food has always been good traditional pub food. I had the Lamb Henry which was very tasty and a huge portion (about the size of my normal Sunday joint). My wife had chicken and leek pie and chips. She did not like the sauce on top of the pie which dominated the flavour of everything. Service was friendly and attentive and fast enough on a busy night. Our table felt a bit like an add on to fill a small gap and was very small. We had a number of other diners waiting directly behind and bumping my seat which was a bit off-putting and rude.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickBooked for 22.9.2023. a Saturday evening. No steak, no specials offered, starters on the small side even for my liking. Service ok. Value for money ok
General Burgoyne – UlverstonLovely cozy country pub in a great location. The staff were welcoming & friendly & service was quick & efficient. Excellent Sunday lunch & food quality. We would definitely return!
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeExcellent food, excellent service. Will definitely return next time we're in the lakes
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithWe thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Wheatsheaf the staff were friendly and helpful. Our family had a delayed journey the staff were very accommodating . The meal was excellent everyone enjoyed their lunch and it is good value. What more can you ask for. We have visited the Wheatsheaf several times over the past few months and on each occasion we have enjoyed our meals .
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeTwo friends and I recently had a meal here. We all had Sunday roasts, but all chose different ones. The service was faster than I expected. We all tasted each other’s, so got to try all three options. They were delicious. I mentioned that the nut roast was a bit spicy for me (unexpectedly, as I didn’t think it would be spicy at all), and they said they would take my comments into consideration, which was nice. I don’t think the others thought the nut roast was particularly spicy though - I am just really sensitive to it, so don’t let what I say put you off. All the options were really nice. We all got milkshakes too. Very nice, lovely and sweet. Fantastic that it is 100% plant based. Nice atmosphere and staff. Great that it accepts dogs too. It’s a cute place. We were too full for dessert and felt satisfied after our meals. We all enjoyed the experience. I am returning soon with some other friends. There are quite a few options on the menu I’d like to try.
Plant by Kat’s Kitchen – KeswickThe booking of a table was very easy and straightforward! However afterwards was less impressed! I had booked for 14:45, sort of felt that the reservation was forgotten about, we got seated after 5 minutes, order was taken very quickly but we waited over an hour to get our food! There was no Yorkshire Pudding left that was disappointing and my other half thought his beef was ok! I went for the beef pie and to be honest it was very disappointing not much beef in the pie all pastry which was over cooked and tough to eat! The pie lacked flavour and the only saving grace was the chips they where very nice! Overall the service was lacking and as we waited an hour not one member gave us an update! Only one server giving out everyones meals despite lots of other staff around! This was a recommended visit but unfortunately our experience was not as positive!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFood was fine - pie filled with meat. Shrimps just ok Service was poor in terms of clearing dishes. Several members of staff came - and took a few dishes away, saying we will be back shortly to clear the rest - but they weren’t, which meant that we were sitting for quite a long time with used plates. There were plenty of staff but they seemed lethargic other than the member of staff who was asking if things were ok. They were ok, but no better than that. We probably won’t come again, nor would we recommend.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeInteresting food beautifully cooked and presented. Will definitely be back

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleMyself and my family went to Lewis’s on Saturday 22nd. The entire staff were wonderful and the food did not disappoint, we had scallops, black pudding , French onion soup and creamy garlic mushrooms to start - 3 x 8hr slow roasted pork belly and surf and turf , the produce and delivery was excellent, thank you
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely and tasty dinner, in a local setting. Friendly staff, easy going. The lamb was excellent and we also had fish, which was very well cooked. Sticky toffee pud was top. Recommended
