Enjoyed a very nice meal with friends, it was very busy but our host looked after us really well and gave advice on various dishes to suit us.

Sorry to say but we didn’t eat. We arrived just before 6pm. We waited about 25 mins for a drink at the table. Another 20 mins for our order to be taken and after being there an hour a half our food still had not arrived. We did ask how long but we were not prepared to wait any longer. There were complaints in the dining room from a large party that the food that they had pre ordered ( which arrived an hour or so late) was not cooked properly namely the chicken. This put us off even more. There was a young girl serving a full bar, and waiting on in the restaurant. She said that they were short staffed! The ‘chef’ was behind the bar and bringing the food out to the big table. They were taking walk ins for food. The waitress was struggling with the bar and people were waiting over 30mins for drinks. I’m from an F&B background and it was awful to watch. Especially when the pub was recommended.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. One of the best restaurants in Carlisle area. Never disappointed.

This was our second visit with friends. Our first visit was a Sunday lunch and it was perfect. Everything taste so good. The staff are really polite and helpful. Jo is lactose intolerant and we find it hard to be catered for in many places. They catered well with out loosing any quality. 10 stars on all things from front of house staff to the kitchen staff. Well done. We will be back. Happy new year to all at the Horse and Farrier.

Lovely food and well presented, the lady who served us was excellent, friendly and gave us lots knowledge about the local area. I'f we are in the area again we would definitely go back

Second visit & didn't disappoint.Good value for money as big platefuls. My husband had the lamb which was melt in the mouth & I went old school with scampi which was delicious,batter was very light & chips were amazing.Cosy pub with chilled atmosphere,staff lovely so will be back on our next visit.

Four of us had a lovely meal, food was amazing, service was great. Couldn’t ask for more. It was very noisy but very busy so understandable. We will definitely be back.

Excellent food .Excellent Service .Cosy , warm environment. Venison , steak pie and Fish pie were all wonderful. One of our favourite places to eat in Keswick.Staff are always friendly helpful and efficient too .

Always a favourite for me and family although the lasagne did not appear to have as much meat in .. a lot of cheese ! Not a complaint just an observation from my partner

Amazing for our second visit will definitely be back

We booked for Sunday lunch between Christmas and New Year. We were welcomed on arrival by a very friendly man who checked our details and seated us. The place was very busy but service was good. We all had the roast dinner which was excellent, everything was home made including the most amazing Yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy. Good variety of vegetables and two types of potato (mashed and roast) plus beautifully cooked meat.

A delicious meal, the beef melted in the mouth, the veg perfectly cooked and the service was efficient and friendly. I would certainly recommend the Horse and Farrier and will definitely return.

Best Sunday lunch I’ve tasted in a long time. Great choice of vegetables, beef was cooked perfectly. The staff were great, very attentive. We will be back. Well done Horse and Farrier.
